Hello and welcome to the forum. I am interested in where those popups are directing you to. That often helps identify the infections. When Avast gives you a warning what information does it provide?

C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2\ <<< your Java progam is out of date, and that will get you bad infections. Use this information to get that security breach fixed:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2

Let's start like this: ewido scan
First download ewido anti-spyware from HERE (http://www.ewido.net/en/download/) and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program
Once you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition files.
On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
Under "Reports"
Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

Close ewido anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.
Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
Lauch ewido-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
Close ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the ewido report scan.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Documents and Settings\Doug Fiegel\Local Settings\Application Data\5292423f.exe <<< file

C:\Windows\Prefetch\ >>> delete the contents (NOT THE FOLDER)
Prefetch info: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/Gaining-Speed-Empty-Prefetch-XP.html

Download CCleaner from this link: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Review the instructions http://www.ccleaner.com/help/tour1.asp
Run CCleaner, Windows & Applications when you run the registry cleaner (Issues) you will be prompted to backup before you can remove stuff, make sure you do.

Restart the computer and post the ewido scan results, a new HJT log and any comments you think will help. How is the computer running now?

Thanks...pskelley

Thanks for returning the information. I remove malware and sometimes that makes the computer run faster, but many things can slow one. The ewido has indicated you have two additional infections and one is Vundo caused by not updating your Java, here they are in the ewido scan report:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\byxyyww.dll -> Adware.Virtumonde : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).
C:\WINDOWS\g126943000.dll -> Downloader.Delf.amb : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

This shows ewido cleaned a couple of files, but the major infection is still there.

Good job with the last instructions, the HJT log looks good, this stuff is hidden, we will start like this:

Follow these instructions: http://www.atribune.org/content/view/24/2/

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with the fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/VundoFix.exe
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on.

I will need you to post the results: contents of C:\vundofix.txt but first I want you to start the computer in safe mode:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html

Once in safe mode, the run a complete system scan with ewido, I want to see if it got all of that Downloader.Delf.amb

Post the ewido scan results, the C:\vundofix.txt, a new HJT log and some feedback from you. How is the computer running now.

Thanks...

We can see that the Vundo trojan was there, these hackers are looking for anyway in to your computer. Keeping all programs updated with afford you the best opportunity of not getting infected.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {1B3B9B14-A26D-4B94-86BB-1E8260A4B103} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccy.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: cfgmngr32 - C:\WINDOWS\g133305359.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winbor32 - winbor32.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

I run the ewido 3.5 and will update shortly. I use the scanner and turn everything else off. I believe 4.0 will work the same way if you wish to keep a very good scanner, it will do everything but give you realtime protection. You want to turn it off so it is not running at all. You should be able to open the ewido folder then the quarantine folder and delete the contents anytime you want. I believe the backup is made in quarantine in case it removes something it should not have. Give it a couple of days, if all is running well, delete the contents of that folder. Running the program with the realtime protection is going to use a few resources, you may turn it off or even uninstall it if you prefer whenever you wish.

The Vundo trojan is updated so often that it will do no good to keep it, delete it.

I would like to see one more HJT log after you complete the above instructions, I will leave you with this important information.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

ewido: It is simple, you can turn it off so it is not running once the 30 days is over and you have a good free scanner that will use no resources unless you run it. Updates are also free.
or you can uninstall it from your computer.

Your HJT log is clean, so you are good to go, tashi will close you in a few days.

Thanks...pskelley
