I recently bought a computer from a company that was selling excess computers.

I am not affiliated with this company, and am not an employ.

The computer did not come with any of the software CDs, so I cannot reformat and re-install

How can I make sure this computer does not have any keyloggers already installed?

Does Spybot detect commercial keyloggers? If not, then its utility as a true malware detection program is limited.

Commercial keyloggers can be used just as maliciously as ones downloaded by viruses. If a program makes no attempt to scan for them because they are "legitimate," then it really is allowing a loophole in personal home computer security

Hello scinter,

Spybot-Search & Destroy searches for spyware, malware, adware, trojans, hijackers and keyloggers.

Not legitimate free/commercial programs, worms or viruses.

What is the operating system and are you able to install Windows Updates?

Best regards.

This "system monitoring tool" is not described as spyware, right?
