View Full Version : win32.fraudload.edt

Hi, I recently did a scan with S&D, and noticed a couple of things. One was the win32.fraudload.edt, which couldn't be deleted no matter how times I scanned. The other thing I noticed was how every time I deleted spyware/malware using S&D, I would scan again, and they would still show up in the scan. Hopefully, the logs will provide some evidence, but if you guys need more info, don't hesitate to ask :)

Hi,

One was the win32.fraudload.edt, which couldn't be deleted no matter how times I scanned.
Could you post results that show what item is flagged as that?

The other thing I noticed was how every time I deleted spyware/malware using S&D, I would scan again, and they would still show up in the scan. That's normal. While Spybot scan is running there're different infection names showing up. Found bad items are those shown in final results.

huh, that's weird. I scanned using S&D again, and i didn't find the win32.fraudload.edt. Maybe I somehow got it deleted? What should I do?

Hi,

Sounds like infection is gone then :)

Let's have a look at your system uninstall list.

* Open HijackThis
* Click on Open Misc Tools Section
* Click on Open Uninstall Manager
* Click on Save list
* Save it to your Desktop
* Post it on your next reply.

Hi,

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

µTorrent

I'd like you to read this thread (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282).

Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

Uninstall Ask Toolbar if not installed on purpose.

Check here (http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) to see if your Flash is up-to-date (do it separately with each of your browsers). If not, uninstall vulnerable versions by following instructions here (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html). Fresh version can be obtained here (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/).

Seems that you don't have antivirus protection installed.

Good free antivirus programs are:
Antivir (http://free-av.com/en/download/1/download_avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html) and
Avast! (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html)

Good commercial ones are from:
Kaspersky (http://www.kaspersky.com/homeuser) and
ESET (http://www.eset.com/products/index.php)

ok, so I uninstalled utorrent, updated flash, and got antivir. Anything else?

Blade81

No, that's all. Just remember to keep system up-to-date :)

sorry I have one more question. I have something called Microsoft security essentials. I think it's a anti-virus program. Is it alright to run two anti-virus programs at the same time?

Hi,

In your installed programs list I saw only Windows Live Essentials which is different from Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). However, if you have MSE installed then don't install another antivirus program. Each system should have one antivirus program installed only.

soon_doo_boo
2010-01-05, 20:16
so, which would you recommend, MSE or Antivir?

Blade81
2010-01-05, 20:26
Both are good solutions. I have MSE on this system and Antivir in my other machine :)

soon_doo_boo
2010-01-05, 20:52
alright I'll just stick with the MSE then. Thanks so much for your help. God bless and happy new year :D
