Hi, under the "System Tools", startup programs, I see "SmoothView.exe" listed as malware (Red). This process is supposed to belong to the Zooming Utility from my TOSHIBA laptop. But, when I do a scan with Spybot, this same process is never reported as a malware. Could anyone shine some light on me please? Thanks.

S&D version: 1.6.2.46
Windows Vista SP2

I can only find the one description for SmoothView.exe in the startup list, and that's for the Zooming Utility for TOSHIBA.

If you click on the SmoothView.exe startup entry so it's highlighted with your mouse, then click the bar to the right, and scroll down,is there one description,or two?
And what is the description?

Also, there was an update to the startup list in October,I think it was.Did you download that, can you recall?

Thanks. I've pasted below the description (that's listed next to the item on the startup list).

I'd applied all the latest updates available on S&D's "Search for Updates", so I suppose it would include the update that you mentioned?

Any clue why this specific item (SmoothView) is listed as a malware under my startup list but not on my regular scan?

Thanks for your help

Well,it is listed as Not Required:
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php?filter=SmoothView.exe
If it was spyware, etc.,it would be shown with an X.

I'm not sure why Spybot is showing it as red,I thought Ns would be listed as yellow in Spybot.

Well,no worries. It isn't malware. It's just suggested that it be disabled on startup because it's not required or not recommended. You don't need to worry about it being listed in red.
