Homepage Hijacked, Pop-ups, downloader.zlob.uz

I am having problems getting rid of this downloader.zlob.uz as well as some other re-occuring tracking cookies. I've have McAfee which told me it found it but cannot clean, delete or quarantine it. Ewido found it and "quarantined" it but it still keeps coming back. I've tried Housecall but it couldn't get rid of it either. I've also installed "Windows Defender" Beta from Microsoft. It says there's "nothing wrong with my computer". I downloaded and installed hijackthis to a permanent folder and executed a scan in normal mode. Here is the file contents.

Hello and welcome to the forum. If you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, I am willing to give it a try. You have a fair mess here with the Smitfraud trojan being the major problem. If you wish to continue, then do so like this.

Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip) (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

The pop up mentioned something about keeping the computer safe with some type of software called windows defender or something close to having to do with windows. I didn't close it right away instead I lowered it to the bottom half of the screen. Then after about 30 seconds it went away on it's own. I know I didn't close it. It was pretty strange.

Thanks for the HJT log, we do have a little more work to do. You have C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe already and of course you know it is valid. Some of these hackers will use a valid program to get you to click on a link you think is valid to infect you. I do not believe Microsoft would pop up anything on your computer so I would delete that item carefully (use the X in the upper right corner). Having said that, if you ever have a question about something suggesting it is from Microsoft, you want to ask them: http://support.microsoft.com/

No more pop ups, however while running ccleaner, McAfee found two trojans:

Thanks for that feedback. Your HJT log is spotless, good job:bigthumb: I would have thought CCleaner woud have cleaned that temp stuff:
c:\WINDOWS\Temp\ <<< Temp stuff. Perhaps ewido will pick up on it, if it does not then do this:

Navigate to that Temp folder and delete the contents (Not the folder). Run McAfee again to make sure it is gone.

Here is a nice little cleaning tool I use that will probably do it, just check to make sure those bad items are gone:

Since you just cleaned the Prefetch (will slow you a little until repopulated) no need to clean it again.

Should I go ahead and clean it using ewido? I know I've tried removing the downloader.zlob.uz before using ewido and it still came back. Just let me know what you think the next action should be.

Right, the purpose of ewido is to delete bad files, you should remove (delete) anything it finds unless you know it is not bad. For our purposes the instructions below will clean out the System Restore files and the ATF-Cleaner will remove all cookies. Just let me know if there are any problems.

Assuming you read to last post I made, I want you to know cookies are a part of surfing, many valid sites will not store passwords and other important information without cookies. Having said that, the second cookie is and advertising cookies and if you wish to stop them, here is the information:

Remember if you block all cookies you may not be able to get to some valid sites that require them. I once blocked a banking cookie and could not sign in to my bank until I figured out what I did.
The other item is in System Restore and we will clean that shortly, It can't bet back on the computer unless you use System Restore.

I will assume by now you have gotten rid of that junk in your Windows\Temp\ folder and post this information for you:

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
