Would you recommend that I upgrade from the free version 4.10.9 to 4.12.3? Is it more secure & less infected? Also could you recommend which version is best if neither of the above versions are good

Nah, not really, the second link says that 4.10.9 is clean but says nothing of 4.12.3 & the 1st link seems to make no mention of limewire
