Hello

This is my very first posting on a forum like this, so I am an extreme novice... Hope I give you the right info.

I have a laptop that has been running very slow so I downloaded Spyware Doctor from pctools and the subsequent scan said I had 4 cases of Trojan-Spy.zbot.A - I was then asked to purchase Spyware Doctor to fix the problem. I decided to try some other software options first.

My laptop then became unbearably slow and the firewall tuned itself off. I was able to turn it back on which has been fine since.

A scan using Stinger showed nothing. Unfortunately I did undo the Restore point before running the scan as this was recommended by Stinger. I have only now read your advice not to do so.

A Malwarebytes scan froze part way through.

The laptop was by this stage slowing down considerably. I decided to uninstall Spyware Doctor as I had noticed things seemed to become worse after installing this. My laptop speed then improved considerably.

I then ran a Spybot scan which picked up 3 cases of Win32.Agent.pz - Spybot has removed these and so far I have scanned twice and all seems clear - only tracking cookies.

I have also now run Malwarebytes fully and all is clear.

What is confusing me is neither Malwarebytes not Spybot picked up the Trojan-Spy.zbot.A found by Spyware Doctor. I am reluctant to reinstall Spyware Doctor as I believe my laptop was badly affected when I installed it last time. (BTW my sister has recently had a similar problem with Spyware Doctor and has uninstalled it too with marked improvement)

I have noticed again today the laptop has been very slow.

I understand from what I have read both of these trojans are very serious and am not too sure if they are still hanging around. Can you help me? I have included the Hijack log below.

Hi shanthau

Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here (http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe) and save it to your desktop.
Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Thanks for your help!

PS - just noted an option for "Instant email notification" as I post my message - perhaps this is what I should have chosen the first time.

I had removed Spyware Doctor as my problems seemed to get worse after I installed it. ie Firewall turning off

I have now reinstalled and ran a scan, which once again notes 4 infections of Trojan-Spy.zbot.A, 62 Tracking cookies, 11 Adware advertising and 2 Trojan-Spy.zbot.YETH.

I am having a lot of trouble finding a way to copy and paste a report for you. To date I havent purchased the software, only ran the scan. Can you help me out? Sorry for the ignorance.

You can always include a screenshot in that case :)

Those look like false positives to me.

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks again and sorry for the slow response.

I have just moved house over the weekend and am still waiting for my wired internet to be connected. I am using mobile broadband internet until my permanent line is connected and it is struggling to download from Kapersky site and drops out constantly.

I think it will be best to wait for the hardwired internet connection with some decent speed !! I will get back to you once this is installed.

I am curious what a false positive is......

Cheers Shanthau
