Hello! I was infected by Data Doctor 2010 and used Malware Bytes Anti-Malware , AVG9.0, and Spybot S&D to remove it. Unfortunately, I found that DD2010 encrypted 6000+ files of Office files, mp3 files and jpeg files.

I'm posting my HJT log below:

I also have the Sunbelt Security decrypter but it cannot work on files with long file names. Is there an automated way to decrypt the files? I hope someone can make an automated decrypter using a drag and drop interface. I would gladly pay for such a product!

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

Did you run Sunbelt's decrypter as a batch as guided here (http://www.sunbeltsecurity.com/DownLoads.aspx)?

Hello Blade81!

Thanks for the reply! I gave up on someone answering this thread. Anyway, yes I followed the instructions but a lot of my files including office files and names of mp3 files have spaces in their names and have long file names. I notice in the instructions that the command line has "_" instead of spaces. Do I have to just put "_" instead of spaces in the file name? It's going to be a long process but if that's the way to make the tool work then I'll have to do it.

I've run Spybot and AVG9.0 and am always clean so my only problem now is decrypting the files (I hope)

Thanks again!!!!

Hi,

Could you do a test by copying a few of those encrypted files, renaming them replacing space with _ and finally, run decrypter for those? If that works then you could rename the other files and run decrypter for them. Btw, what location you have those encrypted ones copied to? Just want to make sure the path doesn't have too many characters in it.

Hi blade81,

I'll try that tonight. I was hoping that there was a solution that worked without having to change the filenames that much. I also wrote to Sunbelt Security but they haven't responded yet. I guess this is the only way to recover my files.

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, Sunbelt's tool is the only one I'm aware of.

Hi blade81,

I'm sorry this is taking so long to resolve. Here's what I did to try batch processing:

1) Copied some encrypted files into c:\2\
2) Put underline in all of the spaces
3) Created new folder c:\decrypt\ and put dd2010_decrypter.exe in there
4) From c:\decrypt\ I typed in cmd:

dd2010_decrypter.exe c:\2\*.* c:\2\*.*.decrypted

Error message: cannot open input file

I then tried to change file names to just one number (i.e. 1.*, 2.*, 3.*...)

5) From c:\decrypt\ I typed in cmd:

dd2010_decrypter.exe c:\2\*.* c:\2\*.*.decrypted

Error message: cannot open input file

I'm not sure if I'm typing the command properly.

Thank you again!

Hi,

Please try to do it like this:
1. click start->run->type cmd.exe and press enter.
2. In command prompt, type:
c:
cd\decrypt
3. Run this command (you may copy-paste it. To paste, right-click command prompt window and select paste):
for %f in ("c:\2\*.*") do dd2010_decrypter.exe %f %f.decrypte
