Hi. my computer seems to be suffering from malware infections. It recently detected dowloader.delf.amb and win32:fakealert. I deleted these with the virus scanner but my computer is still paying up. IE closes randomly and the performance is very choppy. If anyone could hel then it would be very grateful as I'm at my wits end with this! My HiJackThis log is as follows:

Hello Edward and welcome to the forum. If you still need help and are not receiving it else, there is a Vundo infections and others. Let's do this.
Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm
Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix
1) Follow these instruction: http://www.atribune.org/content/view/24/2/
Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/VundoFix.exe
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
Turn your computer back on. Save that C:\vundofix.txt where you will know where it is, you must post that later.

2) Update your Ewido scannner then Boot your computer into Safemode
* Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
* As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly,
this will bring up a menu.
* Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to SAFEMODE
* Then press the Enter on your Keyboard
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
* Lauch Ewido-Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
* Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
* Ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
* Once the scan is complete do the following:
* If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
* Next select the Reports icon at the top.
* Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
*** make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
* Close Ewido and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop.
Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart the computer and post the C:\vundofix.txt, ewido scan report, a new HJT log and any comments you think will help. How is the computer running now?

Well Ed, by now you have to be aware of what this trojan looks like in your HJT log. Did you try to delete it with HJT on reboot and what happened???
Communicate with me, we have to work together on this.

This is what is causing our trouble. If you tried HJT to delete the file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllmj.dll Let's try a couple of more tools. If the first one works, there is no need to try the second. Reboot after the fix and look to see if the items are missing or if they say (file missing) after them.
1) Please download VirtumundoBeGone:
http://secured2k.home.comcast.net/tools/VirtumundoBeGone.exe
* Save it to the Desktop
* Close all running programs (including your Internet Browser)
* Double-click VirtumundoBeGone.exe on the Desktop
* Follow the directions as indicated
This program may generate a "BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH" which is an expected/necessary part of the process.
Do not be concerned.
Just reboot if your system "jams".
To confirm successful deletion, and determine if there are any additional problems, please post the VirtumundoBeGone log VBG.txt. It is found on the Desktop.

I tried virtumundobegone but it just locked up and did nothing. I also tried it in safe mode and it did thesame thing. My hijackthis log is probably the same still. When i check the two things you said and fix them it supposedly fixes them but when I perform another scan they are still present.

You keep posting the same log, I am running out of ideas, you may want to go back and try them again. I can offer one more attempt at removing that file:
You can try this: Disable Ewido real time Protection, it may be blocking our attempts.
From within Ewido -
Under 'Your security status', if the real time protection is active, deactivate it by clicking 'real time protection' until the status says 'inactive'.
Meanwhile please print out the following instructions as this page will be unavailable to you while you are working in Safe Mode, and you should have all windows and folders closed as well.
If that does not work, then try the Avenger, which is the last tool I have.
1. Please download The Avenger (http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip) by Swandog46 to your Desktop. Click on Avenger.zip to open the file Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):
Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllmj.dll
Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.
3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
Click Done
Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply

Okay. I done exactly what you said. Avenger restarted then when it loaded a small command prompt screen popped up for a split second then went. The log file it produced was blank. I ran hijackthis and the list was still the same. It didnt delete it again :mad:
Do you think something could be blocking it from being deleted?
I could try perhaps turning off virus scanners and try remove it?
I searched other forums and they don't seem to have trouble with removing this file. :S

Has me just has confused as you, I remove that trojan with Atribunes VundoFix often and never have these problems. I am just not sure what is causing it or how to proceed. At this point I have been working these logs since early this am and I am totally burned out. I can only suggest that you try whatever you wish. You know the files that must be removed. Avenger is the tool of last resort and if it can't kill it I don't know for sure what will.

If it is you want to get rid of one of them, it is bad policy to run two at once.
ewido may be blocking if you are still in the trial, make sure you turn it off. I am just to beat to be making decisions just now.

No, the rest of the log is clean, I also work logs at that forum, would you mind posting for me exactly what you did, it may help someone else. That guy has a Look2me infection which is different, but vundo is present also. I would appreciate it. You can do it later and PM it to me if you wish:

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
