Hi, yes I still need help. I really have not used the computer since... Thank you!

ok we can start with malwarebytes which you can keep and use as a antimalware app. Link and directions:

Please download Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click *Remove Selected.*

*A restart of your computer may be required to remove some items. If prompted please restart your computer to complete the fix.*

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
Post the log in your reply.

Not to much there. Things improving any on your end?
We can get a closer look with another tool:

Please download DDS (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) and save it to your desktop.
Double click dds.scr to run the tool. When done, DDS.txt will open.
Save both reports to your desktop.
Copy/paste both logs in your reply.

Some webpages are still not loading correctly or completely.

I tried running DDS but the program window opened only long enough to read the first two lines. I tried restarting the computer and turning off anti-virus software before running it.

shelf life
2010-01-31, 23:58
ok. If you right click on the DDS file do you see a option to 'run as admin'?
If so try running it that way.

felhet

Unfortunately there is no "run as admin" option

ok delete the DDS file. The hjt log looks ok and Malwarebytes finds are pretty tame. Other than slow web pages: Are you having any signs (http://www.virusvault.us/signs1.html)of malware on the machine.

felhet

Webpages are not just slow, some either do not load at all or load incorrectly almost as if they were programmed using basic html coding.

i.e. I tried going to the Kaspersky webscan site and the screen is white, nothing loads. The same happens on a lot of websites.

Initially every webpage I went to there was an initial screen that said something to the effect of being redirected.

Attached is a screen shot of the Avast virus chest showing some of the hits Avst found recently.

Well, I was going to attach it but the tool bar to attach files does not work for me. I cannot change the font, format, or anything...

I assume you are using IE 8.0. Have you tried a different browser as a experiment:

Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/upgrade.html?from=getfirefox)
Opera (http://www.opera.com/)
Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome)
K-meleon (http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/)
Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com/)

there are some others also.

felhet
2010-02-04, 03:03
Yes, actually, I just tried Firefox late last night and it seemed to work fine. Why would IE not be working all of a sudden?

shelf life
2010-02-04, 23:50
not sure, did you recently install it or install any updates via Windows updates?

See if anything in this link is worth trying:

We have not done anything specifically to it. I download/install the various Windows updates when they come. I will take a look at that link and see if it helps...

Uninstalling IE 8 did not help.
