Hello, I'm trying to fix my friends (Acer Aspire One) netbooks problem.
It's a problem that I can't handle, thus I'm here asking for help.

The problem:
Windows XP normal start: Everything is loaded, I'm able move the mouse, when trying to open programs (happens by all programs), it doesn't open, instead the computer freeze (giving a beep sound).
Windows XP safe mode: Loaded and working (with internet connection). Able to install spybotSD, but not able to run it. But I'm able to run others programs (firefox, internet explorer, ccleaner, spywareblaster, autoruns,...)

I have done step 1 to 3 of the thread Spybot doesn't run - What you should do , but spybotSD doesn't run, (teatimer does however).

Here is my HJT log:

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.

Thanks for the reply, but I have fixed it already.

It was a H8SRT trojan. I have used a online virus scan, Avenger, TDSSKiller and MBAM. Most of the instruction came from here http://www.myantispyware.com/2009/12/22/how-to-remove-h8srt-trojan-remove-rootkit-tdss/ .

I don't remember how everything went, but I think it goes something like this:
- Online virus scan -> detect something -> removed
- Spybot S&D work -> detect H8SRT, but not able to remove
- Avenger
- TDSSKiller
- MBAM

Anyway, thanks for your reply :bigthumb:

Thanks for letting us know. I still recommend though that help seekers post to forum instead of following general instructions. It's also safer than coming to forum after trying some tricks that have removed malware signs (but still leaving some issues) making troubleshooting harder :)
