Something to do with my having justrecovered from a corrupted MBR (master boot record), but even though I went the extra mile and did a system restore to the point where I regretfully tried installing Lavasoft's free Ad-Aware, no matter what I do to the machine (uninstall and reinstall SB, fiddle with the taskbar notifications settings) I still can't get SB to list in the systems tray.
I simply feel better seeing SB's icon there, sort of assures me SB's actually running.
Suggestions appreciated.
FYI, NRI (no rant intended), my opinion only, Ad-Aware's uninstaller seems just as bad as SB's (files left everywhere, even registry entries for their updates). Ya I know, these uninstallers likely are designed for users who might want to retain these product's settings and backups, but when we emphatically ask for it all to be uninstalled, why can't these companies actually afford what that specified uninstall option implies?
