Hi, I have recently been infected by this WIN32/Matcash thing. I am not sure how it happened but I am struggling to get rid of it, can you please help?

For info I have for several years used CA Antivirus software and this is the first time I have had problems with it. I currently have the following on my pc:

CA Security Center
Product Version: 3.2.1.19
CA Anti-Virus: 8.4.0.28
CA Anti-Spyware: 9.1.0.22
CA Anti-Firewall: 9.1.0.38
CA Anti-Spam: 5.1.18.0

Along with the above, I seem to also be infected with Win32/SillyDl.DGU and java/figfub!exploit, whatever that is.

Here is my HJT log:

Hi justincase

Download at your desktop DDS from one of the links below:

Link 1 (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr)
Link 2 (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds)

Double click the tool to run it.
A black Screen will open, just read the contents and do nothing.
When the tool finish it will open 2 reports.
Copy/paste both reports back here and remove DDS from your desktop.

Please uninstall this as well:

Coupon Printer for Windows

After that:

Please go to Kaspersky website (http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/default/kavwebscan.html) and perform an online antivirus scan.

Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button: Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
Archives
Click on My Computer under Scan.
Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

I have removed the Coupon Printer for Windows, however, when I go to that website, the "Accept" button is greyed out and won't let me click it.

Disregard last post. Got it to work. Will post logs when finished.

I am having a problem with this program.
The first step, Program download andUpdate will go to 100% but the second part, Database Update keeps coming back with "0 [ERROR: Connection to updates source cannot be established].

I have disabled my Anti Virus as instructed on the main page of that website, but should I disable my firewall too?

Shaba
2010-02-19, 18:48
Yes but please enable windows own firewall first :)

justincase

Ok, I tried disabling my firewall and I still received the same error. Any other suggestions?

If so, we use this instead:

ESET Online Scanner:

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan. You will however need to disable your current installed Anti-Virus, how to do so can be read here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html).

Vista users: You will need to to right-click on the either the IE or FF icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select Run as Administrator from the context menu.

Please go here (http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/) then click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS1.gif

Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox. Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS2.gif
When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:

Scan for potentially unwanted applications
Scan for potentially unsafe applications
Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
Now click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS3.gif
The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
Now click on: http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk173/Dakeyras_album2/EOLS4.gif
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.

Note: Do not forget to re-enable your Anti-Virus application after running the above scan!

None of that seems to be working for me either.

When I click the link to go to ESET online scanner, a new tab opens up but is just a blank screen and in the lower left hand corner it shows "done". I tried using IE and Firefox and can't it to do anything on either browser.

I will try using chrome just to see what happens, if anything, and will post my findings, if any, while waiting for further instructions.

I have noticed you are in Finland, which is a 7 hour difference from me, so I will stay on my computer and try to stay as current as I can with your instructions.

Thanks so much.

justincase
2010-02-20, 18:41
Google Chrome reports it as a broken link. It allows me to view a cached page view, but unfortunately, it doesn't allow me to see the scanner link.

justincase
2010-02-20, 18:46
I have found a working link for the scanner.
Am installing now and will post my requested logs when finished.

justincase
2010-02-20, 18:51
Ok, I have tried to follow the steps above, but could only get as far as clicking "start" after selecting Advanced Settings.
When it tries to continue, It says " CAN NOT GET UPDATE. IS PROXY CONFIGURED?"
I am not sure what that means or what to do to configure my proxy.

Patiently waiting further instructions.

justincase
2010-02-20, 19:58
Just to keep you updated on my progress.
I have found a solution to the can't update problem and my computer is in the process of a scan at this time. (Not the same computer I am typing this message from...;)
I will post the requested logs when scan is finished.
Thanks again for all your help.

Finally!
Ok, Here is the Eset log:

Good :)

Delete these:

C:\14.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\00007963.tmp

Empty these folders:

C:\Documents and Settings\Angela\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\
C:\Documents and Settings\Angela\Local Settings\Temp\

Empty Recycle Bin.

Still problems?

I can not find these anywhere:
C:\14.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp

As far as emptying there are several items in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\Angela\Local Settings\Temp\
that will not allow me to delete them. Access is denied. Pop up box tells me to close any programs that may be using them. Only thing is, I don't know what they are or what program may be using them. I tried closing anything that may be running in the background and even disconnected myself from the internet but nothing worked.
Here are the items that would not allow me to delete them:
~DF2AD9
~DF5C6C
~DF17EE
~DF3155
~DF6218
~DFD7A0
and a txt file named WCESLOG

I want you to know, when I woke up this morning, my computer keep looping over and over again on the screen that says "Windows did not shut down properly, using the arrow keys, select what you want to do" or something to that affect. I tried using the option of starting windows as normal, last know good configuration even safe mode. No matter which option I chose, it looked like Windows was going to start, then it would just go back to that screen. After about an hour of playing with that, I popped in my Windows disc and chose the option to repair Windows. That fixed the problem of Windows not starting up, but I scanned my computer again with the Eset scanner to see if maybe my bugs were gone. They were not, however, I would like to post the newest log from that scan. It seems the issue with java had been resolved as a result of repairing Windows, however the others still remain.

C:\14.tmp multiple threats
C:\Documents and Settings\Angela\Local Settings\Temp\Yfq.exe a variant of Win32/Kryptik.CIM trojan
C:\WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp a variant of Win32/TrojanDownloader.Agent.BLS trojan
C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86\00007963.tmp a variant of Win32/Kryptik.CDM trojan

Maybe you can tell me how to find the C:\14.tmp and the Windows\retadpu files. I wouldn't know where else to look other than by right clicking on the start bar and exploring. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks again.

Did you let ESET to remove anything?

justincase
2010-02-22, 21:25
No. I made sure the box was not checked, per your instructions.

Shaba

So then they are likely hidden.

Have you unhidden hidden files?

justincase
2010-02-23, 21:21
I have the boxed checked for "Show hidden Files and Folders".
The area I find this under is;
Right Click on Start bar, click "Explore", then under "Tools" I click "Folder Options", then the "View" tab. It is listed under there. That is the only thing I know to do. Is there any other place that I would need to check to make sure all files are shown?

Then we use this:

Download OTMoveIt (http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/OTM.exe) by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
Double-click OTM.exe. (Vista users, please right click on OTM.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
Copy the lines in the codebox below.

:files
C:\14.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp

Return to OTMoveIt, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
Click the red Moveit! button.
Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.
Close OTMoveIt
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTM\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Ok, here is the report:

========== FILES ==========
C:\14.tmp moved successfully.
C:\WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp moved successfully.

So they were there :) Maybe with system attribute.

Still some issues left?

justincase
2010-02-25, 20:35
Well, my computer appears to be running normal again. My browser isn't going all crazy on me. Just for giggles, I ran that Eset virus scanner again and it said I had threats. Here is the log from it.

C:\RECYCLER\S-1-5-21-1957994488-1229272821-725345543-1004\Dc425.tmp a variant of Win32/Kryptik.CDM trojan
C:\_OTM\MovedFiles\02242010_134856\C_\14.tmp multiple threats
C:\_OTM\MovedFiles\02242010_134856\C_WINDOWS\retadpu72.exe.tmp a variant of Win32/TrojanDownloader.Agent.BLS trojan

Should I be worried about these or am I ok now?

Thanks so much for all your help.
