I have a virtumonde infection on my home computer.
I've run Spybot multiple times and it couldn't fix it (even after it ran on re-boot, then it said it fixed it, then it found it again, etc.)
For some reason when I do a safe boot (F8), my arrow keys don't work, so I can't scroll down to a safe boot option. So I'm always stuck on a normal boot.
I have read a LOT of posts about this infection and it sounds rather involved to get it removed.
I wanted to know if it would be beneficial to remove the hard-disk and plug it into a known good computer as an extra hard-disk. This way, nothing is booted from it. Then I could run the virus scanners with nothing already in memory.
Is this a good idea? What tools would you recommend?
Thank you for any advice.
