    Of course, you could ask if a forum is still useful, with so many social media networks out there where you might already have an account, and met a lot of users. You can now use your login from some of those networks to log in here. And by posting here, your question and data is stored on our servers and not automatically shared with a whole social media network.

    We'll also start using the forum for small bits of information, announcements and more again.

New to Spybot and confussed.

I downloaded Spybot S&D this morning. There is no desktop icon to open it. It is not listed under all programs. There is no icon on the bottom right of my monitor. It is listed in control panel under add or remove. How do I access this program?

There are three critical steps (that would install the folders and icons):

Attached will be three screenshots that will show you where the options to install the icons will be provided.

BUT! There is no need to uninstall and reinstall because I have found another way to recreate the icons :oreo::oreo::oreo:.

Okay, follow Matt's instructions:

Step # 1: Start Spybot via its .scr files

* Click Start
* Click My Computer
* Go to C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy
* In the Tools menu select Folder Options
* In the Folder Options dialog select the View tab
* Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected
* Click Ok


Look for a randomly named file with a .scr extension (JLOSSAOBEIIZCOIQOD.scr for example). Double click on that file.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right click on the randomly named file with the .scr extension and choose run as administrator.

Once you have started Spybot, go into the Advanced Mode (under Mode)>Settings.

Screenshot 4 will show you which icons you should have (this will automatically create the icons you need, in a split second).
