View Full Version : Fighting Netuza32.exe and other Trojians !

Dear all,
I've recently fought a battle with what proved to be a series of Trojians that somehow got past all security on my computer. I initially discovered Netuza32.exe resting in the start-up files, using Hijackthis. Then I couldn't run Msconfig.exe receiving the error message below. Deleting the file through Hijackthis also proved unsuccessful, which apparently resulted in an attack from the Trojian locking me out from common applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Powerpoint and Word, receiving the mentioned error below. Finally Hijackthis was also blocked!
I ran Avira Premium on my PC which initially had identified some infected files in the registry, but was not able to actually open Netuza32.exe when pointing it to the start-up location.
I rebooted my system and arrived at blue screens once with a similar error.
Somehow I managed to restart the system, download Malwarebytes, run the FileAssassin tool pointing it directly to Netuza32.exe ! This worked and the CPU usage came back down to normal. I then ran the software and found another more Trojians lurking in the system and multiple infected registry keys (I attach this logfile below for reference).
I believe I may have got rid of all mal-spyware, HOWEVER I still cannot run the Malwarebytes update command receiving the same error message as before. Apart from this I can now run all other blocked applications including Msconfig.exe and the CPU usage is normal.

The mentioned recurring error message:
<Error occurred. Please repost the following error code to "application"
The system cannot find the site specified.>

I attach below the Malware logfile with the initially infected files (before removal) for reference, and the most recent Hijackthis logfile
I would be grateful for any additional advice on how to spot any infected files still in the system...

Many thanks in advance for your help and concern,

Nikias

Hi,

Logs show that you have/had Zbot trojan there. You should change all your online passwords to new ones. Do that via other system than this one.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.
