Cannot download SpyBot

Have tried many times to download SpyBot S&D. I go through and tick all the correct boxes, and then I get to the actual download point. The download appears to get about halfway....looking at the indicator, but always at that same point the indicator stops...a second or two goes by, and then I am given 3 choices.

Abort...Retry...Cancel. I have tried, but each time I have fanally to select
the Abort option.

Can anyone help me? Many thanks to you.

I don't understand "tick all the correct boxes". I don't see them. At any rate, can you download from the direct link below?

Run ok......english...ok...Accept agreement... next ok. Install...next..ok
'Already exists'....yes

Select 'yes to all'
Create programme/ shortcuts....next/click

halfway download...the stop......select Abort/Retry/cancel

It sounds like you already have SpyBot Search & Destroy downloaded and are trying to install it.

What Windows version are you running? Installation must be done as an administrator.

WAy back I did have Spybot S&D on this machine. My son deleted it for whatever reason......and such reason has also now been deleted.

When trying to download Spybot I am informed that it is already on my machine, and I am asked... do I want to install in the same place........I have tried both options....Yes and No.....The No is never accepted and I have to select download to the same place. I have tried to locate SpyBot on my p.c. thinking that if I could delete such info....it may help....but I cannot locate it anywhere

I am Windows xp....and using Windows 8. In the past when I was using Spybot I found it such a help I thought I would come back.......but I am finding that for whatever reason....I cannot.

SpyBot S&D Removal (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/uninstall.html)

Try the uninstall above. Restart windows, and then retry the install with the previously downloaded spybotsd162.exe.

If the uninstall does not work, visit Remove Traces (http://forums.spybot.info/downloads.php?id=46) and download the file from the link at the bottom. Before using it, delete the SpyBot S&D install folder and also the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\ folder.

This should remove all traces of the program from your machine and allow you to install anew after a windows restart.
