zlob DL'er + other problems

well ive had spybot search and destroy for a while now and its always found zlob downloader but has never been able to remove it

ive never really payed much attention to it since it hasnt really seemed to hurt my computer, but id like to get it removed if ;)

ive also had these wierd pauses in my computer where everything just freezes, my mouse and everything, once every couple minutes

im wondering if this could be caused by a virus or spyware or something or that sort

ALSO, lately ive been getting pop-ups coming up and little messages on the bottom right of my screen, they go away when i run my anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-spyware programs, but they come back sometimes

thinking it may be a dormant virus somewhere in my computer thats activated by some program... but im not sure what it could be

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated since i currently have no idea what im doing :P

Hello and welcome to the forum. Looks like Smitfraud, before we start we have a couple of items to take care of.

1) Java is out of date, the latest version is jre1.5.0_07 and this will get you infected. See this information:

2) Open Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall LimeWire if there. Also uninstall any programs you know do not belong there, if you are unsure, let me know and I will look.

3) Follow the instructions in this link: http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=4015 Post those three logs in this same topic and I will be notified and respond as soon as possible after that.

hey, thx for replying!

i uninstalled limewire, and going to be updating my java

and i also have e-wido, smitfraud, and hijack installed on my computer from previous attempts to remove viruses from my computer (havent used them in a long time though)

just want to make sure, e-wido and smitfraud should be ran only in safemode rite?

and also just want to make sure... F8 is the button to get the menu during start-up for safemode?

You will be fine. HJT has not changed, but ewido recently updated to version 4.0 so if you have 3.5, uninstall it and download the new version.

The Smitfraudfix must be downloaded fresh just before you use it, changes almost daily because of the hackers. Delete any old copies of it.

Safe Mode: only run in safe mode if that is what the instructions say.
