View Full Version : I dont know what it is
For about 1-2 days ago.. I logged on my comp finding a program suddenly popped up called Egisupdate.exe or sum. And I'm wondering if this a regular safe program through Windows Update or is it a virus?
Hello nesitn,
Do you have an Acer laptop?
Best regards :)
Yes, I have an acer laptop :-)
Hi there,
Yes, I have an acer laptop :-)
Malware can be named anything but the Acer is a clue, it may have an encryption program known as MyWinLocker by EgisTec Software installed and EgisUpdate.exe would be the updater.
Do you have MyWinLocker on the laptop?
Best regards.
Yes, I have MyWinLocker. I think. Because when I opened my taskmanager, it was:
Processername: Egisupdate.exe 32* Description: MyWinlocker

Didn't understand exactly what the link you gave me, but all the boxes below are checked.. or should I say crossed off.
And I have MyWinLocker.. can see it on the bottom of the right corner :-)

That link is to the vendor of MyWinLocker. ;)
Ohh, ok. So you are saying that the Egisupdate.exe is a normal program that comes with acer/Mywinlocker? And its totally a safe one? That installs automatically

I cannot give a definitive answer as we haven't seen a log, however I do think that the information already provided does point in the direction of it being a legitimate program.
How is the computer running?
Best regards.
Okok :) Well. My computer is running quite well, can't see any problems with that. Runs perfectly
