View Full Version : Browser redirecting & Spybot crashing

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio laptop with windows XP my father handed down to me. I love this computer. However, beginning yesterday, any time I tried to access a link off google, I was sent to various other sites, usually ad sites. On my computer I have Avast, Spyware Doctor, Hijack This, Malwarebytes, Ad-Adware, Hitman Pro, Spybot and Zone alarm. I have run everything and found only two minor problems. That did not solve my problem. However I had a problem with Spybot. Once Spybot finished checking for problems, it freezes when I hit "Fix It". I have tried to run Spybot in Safe Mode, but it freezes before it finishes checking for problems.

I'm a grad student in bioengineering, and my computer skills are nil. I would greatly appreciate any and all help. Thank you!

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.
