Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab, unselect "files" option and then scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.

Hi Blade81 and thank's for helping me. Is there any way of stopping the XP Defender from hijacking my browser, or should I use another computer and burn dds to a cd? How do I disable script blockers? Thank's again for your help as You can tell I'm on a steep learning curve!

Hi,

Use either CD or removable drive, please. If you use removable drive then do these steps first to make sure it's clean.

1. Download Flash_Disinfector (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe) and save it to desktop of your other system.
2. After downloading, double-click on Flash_Disinfector to run it.
3. Just follow the prompts and continue until it begin scanning.
4. If asked to insert your flash drive or any removable device including USB Pen Drive and Memory Stick, please do so.
5. It will scan removable drives, wait for the scan to finish. Done.

Script blocker may be present if dds is not able to run successfully.
