Hello. I'll explain what happened, so you have an idea of what this might be:
I was on my computer, with several different programs open, including google chrome. My McAffee popped up & said that a trojan had been detected & quarantined.
Then another pop-up came up with the Microsoft Windows logo on it that said that a virus had been detected and "would you like to run a scan". I clicked on "yes", (I know, that was a stupid thing to do), then my computer went crazy. Pop-ups were coming up like crazy, saying that a trojan had been detected. I freaked out, shut down all the programs on my computer & restarted it (I know, that was a stupid thing to do, too).
When my computer started back up, I couldn't open anything! The window comes up that says "open with", & gives me a list of programs to open things with when I try to open any programs. I can't open spybot, system restore, or even the internet, not even in safe mode.

I can, however, still run McAffee, but it is not detecting any problems. I am not on that computer, now, as it is my computer at work. I know that you have a policy of not working on workplace computers, but I was wondering if you could at least give me some sort of advice or direction on how to deal with the problem, myself.

Hi,

Please download exeHelper (http://www.raktor.net/exeHelper/exeHelper.com) to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says Error deleting file, please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

---

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab, uncheck files option and then click scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.
