Hi there,

I have a Sony vaio laptop model no VGN-FE21B. it used to be a work machine but is no longer required for the company and so I have now got it for my personal usage. it had kaspersky anti virus on it (expired now but hasn't been connected to internet since infection.) I have removed several infections from the machine like "xp smart security centre" and a couple of Trojans too. i am now left with spybot picking up about 3 or 4 threats that simply will not go away i've run it multiple times and at start up and even as a plug-in on a BartPE Disk but they will not disappear.

I have not used these forums before as most infections ive had on my other pc's ive managed to fix simply by removing files and modifying registry settings.

it says it finds

virtumonde.sci
PWS.LSPinchIE
Win32.ZBot

after clicking fix selected problems it now only shows

win32.ZBot

but after restarting a few times the others re-appear

here is the dds log as stated about what to-do when you post

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451)
When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063)

However, if you do not have the resources to reinstall your computer and would like me to attempt to clean it, I will be happy to do so.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

Hi Blade,

thank you for your response the machine has been disconnected since i found out about its infection and feared that this might be the case. thinking about it some more and i believe that a re-install might be the best option anyway as it will get rid of the ex-works software completely rather then me manually remove it. now just need to try and get drivers for it as the original cd has gone missing.

banking and other passworded things is what it is going to be used for so i would feel happier re-installing.

thank you for you response
