Sorry I am brand new to this and may be going about this all wrong.

When I start up Spybot it takes up 100% of the CPU usage and takes almost 15 min. to open?

Thank you in advance for your kind help.

Hello,

Which version of Spybot do you run?

Sandra,
I am using 1.4, because the newer version hangs and will never open up, so I went back to 1.4 and it still takes 10-15 min. to completely open up.

Thank you

Hi SonnyDay,

:snwelcome:

You shouldn't use Spybot 1.4 any longer. It isn't any longer supported with updates. Moreover, you can get false positives.

You said that the newest Spybot hangs and will never open... which operating system do you have? How much RAM do you use?

Do you have problems with your computer (-> Malware)?

Matt,
Sorry for the delay in responding have been out of town.

I am operating Windows XP Pro / 1.3GB Ram

No malware according to Malwarebytes / Lavasoft SE / Spybot 1.4 /
Microsoft Malicious Tool / Microsoft Live Care

Have installed and un-installed several times and every time once installed it hangs and will never open up.

Thank you

Sonny

Have you tried using the latest version (1.6.2.46)?

I have the same problem.

In a previous release the slow start was adressed and resolved but now go again.

I delete all info related to SD, donwload the latest form the website and installed and update it.

Only the first time to start was delayed around 3 to 5 min to start, after thar go again to a delay of around 15 min( the latest time with chronometer: 15 min 34 sec).

will be for the incremental update related?

I enable to reduce the time to load to 5 min.
In versions below 1.6 i was starting SBSD with explorer, thunderbird and firefox previous loaded, if i made the same again the timeload of SBSD go to around 15 min.
If i start SBSD first the timeload go around 4 to 5 min.
