View Full Version : Urgent on the road- laptop's antivirus is automatically turned off, no net connection

Hi

I suspect that my computer was infected by some unknown malware. I am on the road right now and working with my laptop. I noticed 2 days ago that I couldn't connect to the wifi router my friend has, when it was working last week. Suddenly tonight, my anti-virus cannot be activated -- as if some external program is blocking it to run. I tried uninstalling it via safemode and downloaded the latest version and installed it.
Now it is running a boot-time scan and I will know in the morning if there is any progress.

I have a Toshiba laptop, core 2 duo, win 7 x86, and running avast! free edition.
I took a hijackthis log just when I uninstalled my antivirus.

Hi I am just posting again the latest Hijackthis log after I did the boot-time scan of Avast! and found a couple of viruses. I managed to move one to the chest, but the rest cannot be found. And yet still I cannot access the internet! :(
I am using a friend's laptop but hopefully someone would answer and help me soon because I cannot update the anti-virus (I have to do it manually) until this malware is removed.
P.S. I already backed up the registry accor. to the user-guide lines.

Dear moderator
I followed and read the before you post log post and have backed up my registry according to what was written there. I copied and pasted my hijackthis log and I have encountered a couple of viruses (generic trojans) during my boot-time scan. I CANNOT connect to ANY internet wifi router and I am at my wits end. Please let me know if you will be able to help me or not.

Hi,

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/dds).
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Download GMER (http://www.gmer.net) here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
Double-click .exe that you downloaded
Click rootkit-tab, uncheck files option and then click scan.
Don't check
Show All
box while scanning in progress!
When scanning is ready, click Copy.
This copies log to clipboard
Post log (if the log is long, archive it into a zip file and attach instead of posting) in your reply.
