I am sure this has most likely been asked before, but I could not find it in the search. Is it possible to install and run spybot on a pc that is not connected to the internet.
thanks for your help...

Hello,
Yes it is possible. :)
Please download the Installation file (http://www.spybotupdates.com/files/spybotsd162.exe) and the Update file (http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe) on another computer,
copy these to a CD or USB stick and then install and run it on the infected computer.

worked a treat. Thanks again.:bigthumb:
I tried the same thing but everytime I try and install it looks for a website and I don't have internet acess. Looking for files at www.safernetworking.org
I downloaded the program and definitions already.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hello,
During the installation Spybot tries to download the updates.
You can disable this function in the wizard itself.
Just untick the check box in front of "download updates during installation" or "Download Updates immediately".
The updates can be downloaded later on.
For more information on updating please have a look at this link (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/howto/update.html) on our website
You can also download the updates manually (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html).
Here (http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/spybotsd_includes.exe) is the direct download link.
Just download and run that file - it is self-installing.

Thanks.
I have it installed and running but when I go to repair or fix what it has found I get this error message:
Unexpected error canot create c:\windows\winnit.ini
any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
This is a common error code seen in our software. Although it is a common Windows error code, it's not really an error so much as an administrative access issue. Spybot requires that you have administrative rights over the machine upon which you install them.
Right-click the Spybot - Search & Destroy entry in your start menu,
instead of just left-clicking to start it.
Then, choose Run as administrator from the context menu.
You will find a screenshot of this problem in our FAQ (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/42.html).

Thanks, working now.
Scanned and fixed, but unfortunately did not solve the problem I am having with my laptop...must be something else.
Thanks for the quick responses
