Malware,pop-ups and a strange exe file.

Please could somebody help.
Been having strange pop-ups and tmp files appearing in my windows\temp folder.
Also there is a strange exe file in my program files folder (ybvjobqd.exe) which I can not delete even in safe mode.
I have followed one of the threads that mention Smitfraud and here are the logs.
If somebody could help it would much appreciated.

I'm also getting from ewido instances of Trojan.Dialler.pz appearing.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Check your spelling on that: Trojan.Dialer.pz and Google it for information:

I see stuff that may be the dialer, but you have posted a log in Safe Mode and I need to see the HJT log in Normal Mode. Please post another HJT log and give me more details about these popups. Make sure everything is enabled in MSConfig and the "Word Wrap" IS NOT checked under Format in notepad.

I'm also getting from ewido instances of Trojan.Dialler.pz appearing.Tell me what program is finding this dialer and that same porgram should give you the exact name and pathway (location) of the dialer. Post that information for me also.

If I ask for the location or pathway and you do not know, please say "I do not know" so I will know you are at least reading the instructions. We will run ewido again to see if it will supply us with the information we need, thanks.

This file: ybvjobqd.exe which you say is in Program Files folder, I do not see it running, but I see no marker for Selective Startup in MSConfig. Do you have it unchecked in MSConfig to keep it from running? There is no doubt the file is bad, but you can scan it here:

I would like to see the results of the scan. Once we know what it is we can remove it.

The stuff I see in the log does not give a location, so the hackers do not want us to know where it is running from. We will need that information first, so you will need to use Search Companion for a location for these two files: ltwprbda.exe and ltfrhook.exe.

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log along with any comments you think will help. Post the information you received from the scan on the item in Program Files also. (ybvjobqd.exe)

As soon as you have this information posted, then I would like you to make sure ewido is updated and then run a complete system scan and post that scan report as soon as you have it. I would also like to see the results of the Trend Micro online scan.

Was unable to find

Ran HJT and fix checked the items you suggested.
Also then ran ATF cleaner

Did a restart then ran the SysProtect remover.

One thing I have noticed is that Internet Explorer Home page I can not change from:-

Even if I set it blank, apply then OK.
Next time I bring up IE it has reverted back to that homepage.

I do not have the result of the Trend Micro scan.
It did find about 3 malware of which it could not delete 1.
Would you now like me to do an ewido scan (normal or safe)?

The above appears to be a problem with the latest update in Zone Alarm, you are not the only one having the problem.

I have seen it suggested that if you must change the start page, you can uninstall Zone Alarm, make the change in Internet Options then reinstall Zone Alarm, but I have not tried this on any of my personal computers.

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Everything seems clear now. (apart from the little problem with IE).
Even got rid of that stray exe in the program files folder (using MS DOS).

Sounds good Fred, assuming you are talking about changing the homepage, you and a lot of Zone Alarm users have the same issue. If you should have ZA Pro, look under Program Control while under the Main Tab. There may be a box locking the home page as of the last update. I do not have it since I am using the free version, and I could be wrong about it also. If you should be using the paid verion I would ask ZA tech support about the issue. There is no doubt it is occuring and probably will be until the next update.
