Hi,
A few days ago I had a scare with some sort of malware, I don't know exactly what it was, except that it was trying to look like an antivirus program. I am not super smart with computers so I decided to do a system restore and picked the earliest date. After that I tried running my virus software McAfee, which i really don't like.
Whenever I go on firefox and try to get to a link, either through google or other links i might get thrown to a different site that I've never seen or heard of before. Then I got spybot and tried to clean everything up. But the problems still persist.
If someone could help me I would appreciate it so much.

hey,

Tashi helped me to get new hosts for my browser as well as getting rid of backups. But I am still getting redirected to random sites.

ok.
new hostsYou mean a host file?

We will start with a download and go from there. Link and directions:

Please download Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click *Remove Selected.*

*A restart of your computer may be required to remove some items. If prompted please restart your computer to complete the fix.*

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
Post the log in your reply.
