View Full Version : Trying to upgrade Adobe on vista

I know very little about vista and this is the error i got when trying to upgrade to adobe 9.1 MUI. "error creating c:/users/public directory". I goggled it but didn't get much help. Any idea on how to fix this?

You could remove the current version via add/remove programs panel. Then download the newer version from Adobe (http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.3/enu/AdbeRdr930_en_US.msi)

Yah yah i know. I did that the computer had the 8 version. Already uninstalled that. When i was installed the new version i got that error. Any idea on how to fix it?

Yah i fixed it. It turns out by default the public folder does not have permission to be written to by anyone other then admin. My problem was that i was uses to xp were if an account had admin status it could write to any folder. Vista this is not the case you have to run as admin. Adobe didn't give me the option of doing this. So i just gave the user i was updating on write permission. One more reason i don't like vista.
