Help needed!..Address Book Virus

Hi,
Today i logged into my 'BT Yahoo email account' and realised that a virus was sending out emails to friends in my address list without me doing it.

I have AVG installed and ran a computer scan which did not find anything.

Any advice on what i should be doing to get rid of this would be brilliant. Would running Spybot Search and Destroy help?

When i rang my local computer shop they said the only way to be sure you've got rid of these viruses is to reinstall Windows. Is this correct?

Also wondered if anyone had any knowledge about how far this virus can go..ie: could it be trying to detect bank passwords etc?

Would running Spybot Search and Destroy help?
Spybot-S&D is not an anti virus program. The application searches for spyware, malware, adware, trojans, hijackers and keyloggers.

One needs to take a look at the operating system before reaching such a conclusion. ;)

There are countless viruses and malware infections with different behaviors. :)

Then start a new topic in Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) and copy paste the log into it, an analyst will advise you there as soon as available.
