I have downloaded dds and double clicked on it. It doesn't seem to be working - it doesn't produce any reports.

Please read the following information carefully.
IMPORTANT: Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
To make cleaning this machine easier:
Continue to respond to this thread until I I tell you that the logs are clean!
Please DO NOT uninstall/install any programs unless asked to. It is more difficult when files/programs appear or disappear from the logs.
Please do not run any scans other than those requested and do not post any logs/reports unless specifically requested to do so.
Please follow all instructions in the order posted.
If you have any questions or do not understand instructions, please ask before continuing.

Download HijackThis
If you already have HijackThis installed, then you can just start it and create a logfile as described below.
Go Here (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe) to download HijackThis Installer
Save HijackThis Installer to your desktop.
Double-click on the HijackThis Installer icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed it will launch HijackThis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on Edit > Select All then click on Edit > Copy to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, then right click the HijackThis shortcut and select Run as Administrator to launch the program.
Please post an Uninstall list.
In HijackThis:
Click Main Menu
Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
Look under System tools.
Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
Click on the Save list... button.
It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
Notepad will open. Please post this list in your next reply.
