Hello and welcome to the forum. You have a bunch of problems in this log including a trojan or two. I will mention a few so you will know what I am removing and then give you instructions which will hopefully remove all of the junk. It looks like a lot, but much is informational.

1) Java is outdated, you must keep it up to date, it is everybit as important as Windows Updates. See this information:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2

2) I could be wrong but it looks like you may be running two firewalls which is not good, you only want one, and if you are running a third party firewall you should not have the SP2 firewall in the Security Center activated. I see: C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1129871524\ee\services\sscFirewallPlugin\ver1_205_1_1\aolavupd.exe and
C:\Program Files\mcafee.com\personal firewall\MPFService.exe

3) I need for you to tell me if this one is safe? C:\Program Files\Internet\ICC\icc2000.exe
If you need help, you can scan the file free here:
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html

4) C:\windows\timessquare.exe >>> http://www.castlecops.com/s12046-timessquare_exe.html

5) SpywareBot is a rouge product and needs to be off your computer, see here:
http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Instructions start here:

6) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

7) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

8) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove programs and uninstall SpywareBot if there. Uninstall any program you know does not belong there, if you are unsure let me know and I will look.

9) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

NetSource101 >>> http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453074892 <<< see this link

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

10) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\windows\timessquare.exe <<< file

C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\ <<< folder

C:\PROGRAM FILES~1\COMMON~1\rmqf\ <<< folder

11) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT along with the information I requested and any comments you think will help.

Thanks...pskelley

Hi. I first want to thank you for your help. I updated my java.

As far as having 2 personal firewalls, I am assuming [I could be wrong] that because AOL Safety & Security Center is powered by McAfee, that is why that is showing up that way. I don't know of any other reason why it would be.

The icc2000.exe is an 'Internet Control Center' that came with one of the dial up internet service providers that I use. USADatanet.

And the 3 files you told me to delete, I could not find them.
Here is my new HJT log.

Oh.. and the cmdservice notice from AOL SSC has not popped back up yet. It's been about half an hour or so.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback, communication does make it easier. Whatever you did worked, HJT may have killed the junk for you but it is gone from your HJT log and your log is clean. It is unusual for the junk to go so easily. I would like you to do this for me.

Make sure all files and folders are unhidden as in instruction #6 above, if they are hidden, SC can't find them either.
Click on Start > Search > When search companion trots out click on all files and folder. One by one copy/paste these files into the search box and let search companion have a look. Please be patient, sometimes it take a while, you want to know sc has given up and can not find them.
timessquare.exe and SpywareBot.exe and rmqfm.exe
If search companion can not find any of those files, then you are good to go. If sc does locate any of them, then you need to find it and delete it.

I wanted to comment on this site and the practice of downloading these:

If you think about it, knowing that nothing is free, how can these sites offer you free? You can bet you are paying a price, they are either showing you adware or collecting information or something. You may do as you like on your own computer but my advice would be either to purchase the game software if you wish to play it or play online without downloading the stuff.

I am going to leave you with some information, but if you run into problems the topic will not be closed by tashi:) for a couple of days.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Search companion did not find the files. Yay! Thank you SO SO much for your help!

I also wanted to ask if my AOL Safety & Security Center did not pick up the trojan when a scan was done, should I be looking for better protection?

The cmdservice notification just popped up again =[

There is nothing showing in the HJT log:confused: you need to give me more information about this item. What is it, what program is finding it, where does it say it is located (pathway) any information that will help me identify it. Something to help me know what I am looking for. If you can, copy/paste the information you are seeing to this topic.

Thanks

AOL Safety & Security Center is the one finding it. It pops up with a notification, telling me it was blocked. When I click view blocked items, it gives me the option to delete. I delete and then a notification pops up again. There is nothing to copy & paste, and I am beginning to think this is a problem with AOL S&SC but I am not sure. I have done scans and nothing comes up, but the notification still pops up and when it does EVERYTHING on my computer just freezes.

I wish I could give you more information, but there is none. It is very strange.

2006-07-16, 21:45
OK, I understand, but there must be some information about what it is blocking? If you have to contact aol and ask them how to get information about what it is blocking. It has to be there somewhere. When you run McAfee does it find anything? Does any other program ? I looked at the tour for this software and I can tell you I am not a fan of aol, I hope it is not the software causing the problem. See what you can find out, looks like your are in or around: New York - Syracuse is that correct?
Looks like you can launch live support or email from here: http://discover.aol.com/help.adp

Thanks...Phil

I don't have McAfee- well I do but it is powered through the AOL SSC. I have runs scans with the AOL SSC, Spybot S&D, and Ad- Aware and everything comes back clean.

I am doing another scan with AOL SSC and seeing what I can get from it. Nothing came up.. here is a screenshot.
http://members.aol.com/stephanie7503/images/screenshot.jpg

And when I try to view the blocked items, AOL SSC freezes. <--which only makes me believe more that it is a problem with AOL SSC.

sigh. I don't know what to do.

I really don't want to get into aol, I would dump the problem in their lap. There was an issue with a command.exe that was showing up in the Spybot run and was a false positive the we have a fix for, but I hesitate to apply it for a aol issue that is really showing nothing. Have you considered uninstalling aol SSC to see what happens?
I am unsure how to proceed with this, what do you suggest?

Thanks...Phil

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the security center. I think I am just going to find new antivirus software and firewalls. May I ask for any suggestions?

I will mention what I run, then offer some free choices.

I run McAfee and only because I have for years and I get a very good prices for four computers.
I use Zone Alarm free, it is a good program but since it is free there is no technical support.
and I run these free programs on all of my computers:
Spybot
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial43.html
Ad-aware
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial48.html
SpywareBlaster
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial49.html
SpywareGuard:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial50.html
IE-Spyad
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial53.html

All programs will not run on all computers but I rarely have a problem with any of those.

Here are free antivirus programs, and I will say when I needed a free one to put of my sisters new Dell, I chose AVG by Grisoft:
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
http://www.free-av.com/

Firewalls: http://www.jetico.com/index.htm#/jpfirewall.htm
http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
http://www.tinysoftware.com/home/tiny2?s=5375286922906434776A0&&pg=content05&an=tf6_home

I have to say then of the free ones, ZA and AVG are the only one I can say I have used, but I rarely list a product without a good reputation.

I'll include my closing information, you may find the advice from some of the best in the malware business helpful.
