View Full Version : Was this an attack on Spybot ?

Soon after opening Spybot, whilst I was browsing the menus (I am a fairly new user), Spybot made the sound of a horse neighing, and presented a grid about ten by ten squares in the middle of the screen.
It looked like some kind of game. It disappeared by itself within about twenty seconds.

I can't find it or make it happen again, so I suspect it was malware attacking Spybot, which may have detected and killed it.

Has anyone else had anything like this ?

Hello bannerman,

Appears you found the Easter egg "Knight Hop" http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=10 ;)

Best regards. :)

Hi Tashi,
Thanks for the information.
Please may I respectfully suggest that anti-malware software should not do things that emulate malware ?

This sort of thing could unnecessarily worry a lot of people    and cause them to waste a lot of time trying to find out what's happening. Here I am, it happened to me.

By all means include a little bonus for people, but this kind of software should not contain practical jokes.

Thanks for listening,
Frank.

Hello bannerman,

By all means include a little bonus for people, but this kind of software should not contain practical jokes.

I understand but it's a game not a practical joke, a lot of people enjoy the easter egg which is also offered as a separate download. :)
