View Full Version : Need help removing Malware (DDS LOG)

Instantrepairmanuals
2010-07-23, 02:16
Hello, I am not sure what type of infection I have but It has changed my screen and icon size and sometimes I will get a blue screen with information in white font and from there I have to shut down to continue using my laptop. Below are the logs as requested. Even though the (Read before you post) log says to post both logs when I read the attach log it says to NOT include it unless the person assisting you asks for it. I wasnt sure what to do but I zipped it up and attached it just incase. Thanks for your help in advance.

ok. First you should know that not all problems are caused by malware. We can get another download to use as a another check. Link and directions:

Please download Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.

Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.

Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.

Be sure that everything is checked, and click *Remove Selected.*

*A restart of your computer may be required to remove some items. If prompted please restart your computer to complete the fix.*

When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt
Post the log in your reply.

Hey yes Im aware that not all problems are malware related but I am sure this problem is because my girlfriend downloaded a movie from non-legit site and ever since then I have had alot of problems including my computer going to a blue screen with white font and it does say some file in my HKEY_LOCAL is infected. I didnt write down exactly what it said but if it happens again (as it usually only happens once every 3 times that im on my computer) i'll be sure to write it down and post it for you. But below is the log as you requested. Thanks so much for your help I will be so grateful once my computer is cleaned and working back to normal. Your friend, Rob

Yes, my icons and items were extremely larger than usual then it went back to normal and then back again which is the screen resolution. So im sure i have some sort of malware or spyware thats infected my laptop. What should be the next step i take?

I wouldnt consider that a sign of malware. You can do a online scan for another opinion:

ESET online scanner:

http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

uses Internet Explorer only
check "YES" to accept terms
click start button
allow the ActiveX component to install
click the start button. the Scanner will update.
check both "Remove found threats" and "Scan unwanted applications"
click scan
when done you can find the scan log at:C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
please copy/paste that log in next reply.
