Hi, since yesterday I've got my computer infected with Command Service and some other stuff (which I could remove with Spybot and Ewido). I followed some of the steps described here, but I can't get rid of Command Service. Any useful hint? Thanks a lot in advance.

It seems you have turned on "Word Wrap" in notepad?? Open notepad and click on Format, uncheck Word Wrap, post a new HJT log that my scanner can use.
Please tell me what program is reporting this problem. If this is Spybot, is your program up to date? Your version should be 1.4, latest updates 6/23/2006. Give me more information, exactly what is showing in Spybot.
Copy/Paste the information to this thread.

Thanks:)

ooops..., here is the HJT log again, without word wrap.
The problem regarding Command Service is reported by Spybot (vers. 1.4, with the latest definitions). In the next post I will paste the Spybot report after the scan.
Further, a scan online from Symantec reported that the file "C:\WINDOWS\R2lvdmFubmk\lZ5SxAIRvA4.vbs" was infected with Spyware.ISearch, but both AVG and Norton AV installed on my computer report no problems. (?)

Thanks for returning that log, I will ask for a little help because I do not know some of these programs.

1) Our first major issue is that your are running two Avtivirus programs at the same time and that is not a good policy, see this information:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2000031316555206 from Microsoft
"Microsoft recommends that you have only one anti-virus program installed on your computer."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/12/03/AR2005120300087.html
Uninstall one and update, then run a complete system scan with the one you kept. Post anything it locates and can not remove for me.

2) C:\WINDOWS\R2lvdmFubmk\lZ5SxAIRvA4.vbs <<< I believe this is bad, but it is not showing in the HJT log. Let's do this:
How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Now use one or more of these free online scans to make sure that is a bad item.
http://virusscan.jotti.org/
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
http://www.virustotal.com/flash/index_en.html
I believe you will find it is infected. The navigate to C:\WINDOWS\R2lvdmFubmk\ <<< delete that folder.
You may have to use safe mode: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/public-beta/ATF-Cleaner.exe
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Turn off TeaTimer, it will block changes we must make: http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {46AE04C0-BCFA-4728-90E7-00EB4A8B3863} - (no file)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.elitemediagroup.net
O20 - Winlogon Notify: App Management - C:\WINDOWS\
O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\iVshlpr.dll (file missing)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

7) Please download and unzip Ren-cmdservice to your desktop.
It will only work correctly if the folder is placed on your desktop and extracted !!.
http://downloads.subratam.org/Lon/ren-cmdservice.zip
Open the ren-cmdservice folder by doubleclicking it and then doubleclick the
ren-cmdservice.bat file to run the program.
A text will open when it is finished, Post it please.
Then restart the PC run spybot check for and fix any problems found

Post that text report and a new HJT log, along with your comments. How is the computer running now?

Thanks

Thank you for the detailled instructions. The file was actually infected and I could remove it successfully. I followed your steps and now Spybot reports *no* problems. Here is the text report from ren-cmdservice and from Spybot, with the next post comes the HJT log. Now the computer runs apparently good, as ever.

That is good to hear, I see these two lines are still in the log:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Explorer - C:\WINDOWS\
It looks like the have no files to cause problems, would you use HJT once more to see if you can remove them.

Here is some great information from Tony Klein, Texruss, ChrisRLG and Grinler to help you stay clean and safe online:
http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957
http://russelltexas.com/malware/allclear.htm

ewido is a great program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

Safe surfing... if all is running well, tashi:) will close your topic in a day to so.

Thanks...pskelley

Hello. Now the problem is completely solved, and I could also remove the two remaining items with HJT.
Again, thank you very, very much for the rapid and competent support.
