View Full Version : Access violation on start up
I am also getting access violation on start up - referencing Teatimer. The Microsoft error sytem tells me that Spybot has stopped working properly and refers me to this Forum. I have reinstalled Spybot but this start up issue persists. Any ideas?
Which version of Spybot do you have?If you're unsure, you can open Spybot, click Help, then About.
I have version 1.6.2 updated with downloads today.
on further checking the version is 1.6.2.46
Ok,good,that's the latest version. :)
I couldn't find too much on this, there is a suggestion at the end of this post to disable teatimer, since you've got the latest version, and you've tried reinstalling:

OK - I will follow that. However, since other users seem to having the same problem I would have thought Spybot would be interested in sorting it! My uninformed guess is that it may be something to do with contention with the start up of my Norman Security Suite?

I'm unsure what would cause the Access Violation error.
Do you know what's contained in the error message?Does it mention Exception EAccessViolation or Exception: access violation (0xC0000005) anywhere in it?

Hello,
Which windows version do you have?
Best regards

Team Spybot
Acess violation message - the second type you mention. I have Windows XP. Interestingly after unticking teatimer as per the suggestion and then closing Spybot - I then got the access violation message again. Have not tried restart yet to see if the unticking has removed the message - will report.
No longer getting access violation on start up - after unticking Teatimer as suggested. Start up is now dramatically faster too! Thanks for your guidance! Seems Spybot has problems with Teatimer.
Glad to hear that. :)
This is a page about the Exception: access violation (0xC0000005) error, just for general info:
