Hello,

This computer is usable, and was a lot worse a while back before I found Spybot. At that time I had to run Spybot in Safe Mode, since the program would not start otherwise. I had been having significant difficulties with IE throwing endless popups immediately upon logging into windows and rendering the computer almost useless. Once I initially ran Spybot a lot of these issues went away. I also started using Chrome, which (correct me if i'm wrong) is more an avoidance tactic than anything else, since IE seems to be the affected bit. I had been using Registry Mechanic (non-registered trial mode) and today downloaded CCleaner. I have uninstalled both of these programs today since reading the FAQ. I also have in the past used uTorrent and Vuze, though these programs are both now uninstalled after reading the FAQ. I understand that I have likely infected myself though use of these torrent sharing programs.

The only significant issue I have been having is that every time I start the computer it runs CHKDSK and gets stuck, then restarts CHKDSK endlessly unless I skip it in the 10 seconds it allows me to do so before starting the scan. This may or may not be a related issue.

Spybot tells me it can not remove all components of Virtumonde and to visit this forum for assistance. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

I have run ERUNT today.

-Jeff

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.
If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.Hi MixtecoBlue and welcome..

I'm DFW and I am going to try and help you with your Malware problem. Please observe the following points and rules while we work:

The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine!.
The clean up process can take time. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
Refrain from running self fixes as this will hinder the malware removal process.
It may prove beneficial if you print of the following instructions or save them to notepad as I post them.
Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
Some of the Logs we ask for can take some time to Analise, so please be patient.

Before we start:
Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.
Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

"The only significant issue I have been having is that every time I start the computer it runs CHKDSK and gets stuck, then restarts CHKDSK endlessly
unless I skip it in the 10 seconds it allows me to do so before starting the scan. This may or may not be a related issue".

"IE throwing endless popups immediately upon logging into windows and rendering the computer almost useless."Are you still able to boot into normal mode ok and run any programs still, by stopping the disk CHKDSK in the ten second countdown, please post back and give
a update on your system, so I can help you. ??????

Yes, all programs currently run. When I skip the CHKDSK at startup I am able to login normally. I regularly get Dialog boxes saying "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvernience..."

Next time it pops up ill copy/paste here.

Sorry MixtecoBlue, I never got a notification email that you had responded, let's make a start

I would like you to run Combofix, in normal boot mode first, if you have any problems please come back and let me know.

Download and Run ComboFix (by sUBs)
Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

Download ComboFix from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

For more information about Combofix please see here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix).

Close all programs.

You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply
Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

Please post back the Combofix Log
