Hi, my first post:

at varying time I receive this message / dialogue box saying:

Spybot - Search & destroy has detected an important registry entry that has been changed.

Category: System Startup global entry
Change: Value changed
_______________________
Entry: MCUpdateExe
_______________________
Old data: C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\McUpdat (can't read what the rest of the line says)
New Data: C:\PROGRA~1\mcafee.com\agent\mcupdat (can't read what the rest of the line says)

Then I am prompted to remember this decision, a box that says: '?', another saying Info, and the last one that is not readable, (I mean there is no writing on that particular tab) only that when I try and clik on it, the check mark goes into the remember this check box.

Then after I close this window, it advises me that windows hass ben unchaged.

Any ideas?

thatnks in advance for you r help

Hello,

This is a little bug in version 1.4: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/news/2005-06-22.html
We have already been able to locate and fix it. The fix will be downloadable with our next program upgrade. We hope that it will be available soon.
As a current solution you can work with your keyboard. Use the cursor keys to switch between the buttons ("Allow" is on the left, "Deny" on the right) and the space key to enter your selection. You can also press "A" on your keyboard for "Allow change" or "D" for "Deny change". The Checkbox for "Remember this decision" will work correctly in spite of the graphical issue. If you don't like to use the above workarounds you can disable TeaTimer as follows:
- Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident.
- Uncheck the following: Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.
For more information please have a look here:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=44
And you'll find a little workaround here:

I have been getting a similar message as kbaasit, only it relates to a user entry.

Box at lower right says "Resident denied change..."

Change: value changed

Entry: swg

Old data: C:\Program Files 9x86)\Google Toolbar\Google Tool....... [end of file name obscured]

New data: same as above

The "Remember this decision" box obscures the larger box above it.

[I also get a similar entry occasionally for the MSN toolbar]

Help!

The "Remember this decision" box obscures the larger box above it.

That was the old teatimer bug. There's a newer version that doesn't have that problem. You might want to uninstall Spybot 1.4,then install Spybot 1.5.

I can't remember if your old remembered decisions get deleted or not when installing the new Spybot.Probably, but to be on the safe side, you might want to clear out your remembered decisions:
http://www.spybot.info/en/faq/5.html

If you decide to uninstall Spybot 1.4,here are some things you might wish to do first before uninstalling(posted elsewhere by md usa spybot fan,and stolen by me.thank you,md.)

Go into Spybot > Immunize
Click "Undo" button (at the top)
Uncheck (if checked) the following:
"Enable permanent blocking of bad addresses in Internet Explorer"

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Resident
Uncheck (if checked) the following:
Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) Active.

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > IE Tweaks.
Uncheck (if checked) any of the following "Miscellaneous locks":
Lock Hosts file read-only as protection against hijackers
Lock IE start page setting against user changes (current user)
Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)

Go into Spybot > Mode > Advanced Mode > Tools > Hosts file
Click the "Remove Spybot S&D hosts list" button (at the top)

Then you could uninstall Spybot 1.4 from add/remove programs.

Here is the download page for Spybot 1.5:
