Ken, I saw on one of your posts that you provided this info:
"Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis. If you install Spyware Blaster ( Recommended ) then do not enable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy."

What exactly is the advantage of this combination if SBS&D has the protection built in?

Hello Pat,

That are both resident features.

Using more than one anti-spyware program with a resident protection tool might cause conflicts. However, Spybot - Search & Destroy's Resident protection is programmed in a way that there shouldn't be any compatibility problems.
If some parts would conflict, just those parts could be disabled.

That's the way to to disable the resident feature of Spybot - Search & Destroy: run Spybot-S&D, switch to the "Advanced mode" via the menu bar item "Mode" --> hit "YES" --> select "Tools" in the navigation bar on the left --> "Resident" and there you can untick the checkboxes in front of the two tools.

OK, so is the resident feature in Spyware Blaster better than the one in SBS&D?
And is this the reason that KEN545 recommends this configuration?

Hello,

You can't say that.
It is not possible for any anti-spyware-tool to detect every threat because the spyware sector is growing and developing too fast.
So it might happen that one anti-spyware-tool detects something that the other misses.
Therefore it is recommendable to run more than one security software.
