the message says "can't start program because imagehlp.dll is missing from your computer" I looked for the file and its there. thing is I had the problem with another program too that referred to the same file could the file be corrupted or something?

Tricky, to narrow things down, had the computer showed signs of infection before the issue occurred?

What is the other program that also throws the same error.

The other program is Mabinogi a computer game. when it first appeared back in April I thought it was an issue with the game itself and not the operating system. I might try a repair install that your search talked about.
