Well, IIRC it all started with this scan some time ago

Then I noticed these popups from fake anti-spyware anti-virus websites a lot. And also casino sites. But Trend wasn't detecting anything else. I expected it was an obscure spyware causing problems. But AA and SB didn't detect anything out of the ordinary. So I immedaitely come to these forums and the hijack this forums and installed all the latest programs I could find. I now run ewido, SpywareGuard, SpywareBlaster, and WinPatrol, and SB's teatimer. I used eTrust, Panda, and BitDefender webscans and kept using each until they each came up with nothing. I used all my anti-spyware tools and scanned them until nothing came up (I think just cookies), I also setup cookie blocking and setup all the other protections. There were a LOT of different virusi/spyware that kept popping up and I didn't save a scan for each one. I checked a Hijackthis log and noticed 2 positive virus entries and removed them. (I had already deleted the infected file they pointed to prior). Now I am concerned about ensuring all remnants of my system are clean. So now I will give you the rest of the scans I did take and also my current hijackthis scan. Thank you for your assistance.

BTW Those scans aren't the latest ones. As I've said all AV programs so far haven't detected anything new... yet.

Does this file still exist ?
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dumi32.dll

Is Tea timer or winpatrol currently alerting to any attempted changes ?

Dessun
2006-07-25, 06:34
No, I deleted that file using dellator. I also found some things pointing to that dumi file in my HJT log. Those were removed as well. Today I accidentaly ran a Pccillin spyware scan and just popped up with this strange thing. Let me find the log.

"Spyware Log","2006/07/24","DESSUN"
"Time","Threat Name","Result"
"20:21","SPYW_FPTLBAR.100","Spyware Detected"
"20:33","SPYW_FPTLBAR.100","Clean succeeded"

ewido, adaware, and spybot did not detect this, nor can I find much documentation on it. I don't even have any of the symptoms that the pccillin database lists. Nor can I find any of the associated files on my harddrive. Just a mistake on Pccillin's part or what?

Ran ewido, adaware, spybot, panda online, escan online, and bitdefender all again today and each one has been clean.

And sorry, I cannot edit my posts for some reason, but WinPatrol isn't detecting any changes I am aware of. I turned off TeaTimer, it was conflicting with WinPatrol and think I like WinPatrol more.

Thanks,

I think your good to go Dessun unless there are other problems or symtoms ?

Dessun
2006-07-29, 02:39
The only other unusual syptom I have it that I'm getting lots of errors ever since this virus stuff happened. Windows keeps having to shut down programs. You know that window that pops up saying "Windows Had to Shutdown Program..blahblahblah, would you like to report it to microsoft?". Happens almost everyday. It's mostly Internet Explorer and games, but one time a run-time .dll or .exe from PcCillin had to be shutdown and that caused me some concern. I don't know if this is caused by malware.

Unless you detect something else I will assume I'm clean and wait to see what happens. If I get any problems in the future I will post it in a new topic. Thank you very much for your help.
