I have a few different issues going on. I started off getting advertising pop ups whenever I opened Internet Explorer. Then I was getting redirected links whenever I used a search engine. Next, I got the black box that reads "Your System Has Been Infected" in red letters. I am also now seeing the "Antivirus 2010" and "Windows Security Alert" message windows popping up.

I think I have followed the requested procedures, but if I missed something let me know and I will provide you with the info. I have also run ERUNT.

Here is my DDS log, thank you for your assistance:

Hello dim2001sum,

I'm sorry for the delay, I haven't forgot this post.

Please hold on running any fixes until I can get back to you.

Thanks for you patience.

Your computer has multiple infections, including a Backdoor.
A backdoor is a software program that gives an attacker unauthorized access to a machine and the means for remotely controlling the machine without the user's knowledge.
A backdoor compromises system integrity by making changes to the system that allow it to by used by the attacker for malicious purposes unknown to the user.
Typically it's installed without user interaction through security exploits, and can severely compromise system security.
Such infections may open illicit network connections, use polymorphic tactics to self-mutate, disable security software, modify system files, and install additional malware.
These backdoor infections may also collect and transmit personally identifiable information, without your consent and severely degrade the performance and stability of your computer.
A backdoor infection can give intruders complete control of your computer, logs your keystrokes, obtain passwords, steal personal information, etc.

Further info:
http://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2008-091809-0911-99
http://www.symantec.com/connect/blogs/tidserv-s-boot-methods

You are strongly advised to do the following:
Disconnect the computer from the Internet and from any networked computers until it is cleaned.
Call all your banks, financial institutions, credit card companies and inform them that you may be a victim of identity theft
and put a watch on your accounts. If you don't mind the hassle, change all your account numbers.
From a clean computer, change all your passwords
(ISP login password, your email address(es) passwords, financial accounts, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, any online activity you perform, requiring a username and password).
Do NOT change your passwords from this computer as the attacker will be able to get all the new passwords and transaction records.
Back up all your important data except programs. The programs can be reinstalled back from the original disc or from the Net.

Due to its backdoor functionality, your computer is very likely to have been compromised and there is no way that it can be trusted again.
Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan,
the best course of action would be to do a reformat and re-installation of the operating system (OS).
This decision will have to be made by you...

We can attempt to clean this machine but we will not guarantee that it won't still be compromised, afterwards.

To help you understand more, please take some time to read the following articles:
When should I re-format and reinstall my OS (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10063)
What are Remote Access Trojans and why are they dangerous (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/alerts/info/virusrat.mspx)
How do I respond to a possible identity theft and how do I prevent it (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10451)
How and Where to backup your files (http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/update/wherebackup.mspx)
Restoring your backups (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309340)

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
Thanks

We will probably go ahead and replace this CPU since it is rather old. Will it be possible to transfer files from the infected computer without also transferring the Trojan? Also, do we need to worry about any computers that were networked (wired and wireless) with that computer? Should I copy DDS logs for those computers?

Will it be possible to transfer files from the infected computer without also transferring the Trojan?
I would only backup/transfer personal data (documents, pictures, music, etc) to a cd/dvd.
If you use a flash/external drive then run this program with all flash drives (cameras, phones, usb, etc)

Please download Flash_Disinfector and save it to your desktop.
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Flash_Disinfector.exe
Double click to run it.
You will be prompted to plug in your flash drives. Plug them in.
Flash_Disinfector will start disinfecting your flash and hard drives. This takes a few seconds. Your desktop will disappear in the meantime.
When done, a message box will appear. Click OK. Your desktop should now appear. If it doesn't, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Click on File > New Task (Run...). Type in explorer.exe and press Enter. Your desktop should now appear.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it.
Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

It should now be safe to transfer any personal files from this pc.

Also, do we need to worry about any computers that were networked (wired and wireless) with that computer? Should I copy DDS logs for those computers?
I can't say for sure but it may be worth starting a new topic for the other computers one at a time. Once you deal with this computer if you use a router you would need to reset it (usually by sticking a pencil/pin, etc into the small hole on the back of the router, then changing the default password... if you need help then let me know the exact make/model)
