View Full Version : Computer infected with Antivirus Studio 2010 malware

Fake antivirus alerts are popping up on our Vista machine, also hijacking the browser. I initially attempted to clean the computer manually by deleting relevant files and registry keys, but was unsuccessful, as the malware popped up again. Installed MS Security Essentials, and now it identifies it (Rogue:Win32/FakeRean) and says it's removed the malware, allowing us to browse and otherwise use the computer without any apparent issue... until restarting the computer, when the malware pops up again.

Here's the requested info from the "BEFORE you POST" sticky.
