Spybot crashes on Win XP

I have two computers, one with XP Pro, and Spybot 1.6.0.31 runs fine on that one; the other is XP Home edition, and it seems to cause a serious crash, even when I attempt to run it in Safe Mode. Both are Dell computers, preinstalled software which is very similar in both.

Does anyone know if the newer version of Spybot would cure this problem? Any idea why crashes happen on one system and not the other? Thanks.

I'm using a Dell with WinXP Pro SP3 fully patched. The latest version of SpyBot S&D is 1.6.2.46, which I'm running. Download it from one of the sites listed at http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
