I have been trying for over two weeks to find and eradicate a re-direct virus. I have downloaded more antispyware and virus software than anyone can imagine. Symptoms are intermittent but basically as follows:
1. Randomly re-directed to Amazonaws, a "Virus checking web site", and many others
2. My home page does not get changed
3. I have killed off all tool bars on my Browser
4. Upgraded to IE 9 Beta (hoping infected files would be overwritten)
5. Have run MalWarebytes, Spybot, Windows Defender, Windows Maliscious Software Removal Tool, Norton Antivirus, Windows Essentials, and a host of others with no success
6. Have fruitlessly searched the internet for any information that might help
7. Modified my wireless router to turn off uPNP
Short of trashing the computer, router, and ripping my hair out, how can I find out what I have and where? Is there a list of things to look for to diagnose?
Help is absolutely appreciated.
Thanks
