When I shutdown windows xp pro, windows attempts to close a progamme and I do not know what the program is?

When the ending program window comes up, the name at the top is always different and has symbols, the latest being [][][][][]Aêêê

I have scanned with different AV's but they find nothing? I post a DSS below

thanks

Hi,

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (http://www.besttechie.net/tools/mbam-setup.exe) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
Please post contents of that file +fresh dds logs in your next reply.

I don't think malwarebytes antimalware has found anything. Here is the log and new dds. I did a scan with AVG free in safe mode and I think it found a locked file? Not sure if this means anything?

I am also trying the windows onecare scan, but after installing malwarebytes I get an error message 0x08402405. I have since uninstalled malwarebytes, but still no change. What can I do to allow onecare to work again?

I did a scan with AVG free in safe mode and I think it found a locked file? Not sure if this means anything?
What was the path of the file?

I am also trying the windows onecare scan, but after installing malwarebytes I get an error message 0x08402405.Disable AVG and try again.

I have had AVG downloaded before Malwarebytes Antimalware. It is definately Malwarebytes, which I have since uninstalled that has stopped Onecare from running. What can I do about this? I have reinstalled the onecare program, but the error is now 0x08402803. I thought Onecare might be good to scan my registry and defragment because I did a onecare scan before with options just to scan for virus/spware and it found none.

When I did the AVG scan in safe mode I think the locked file had something to do with Usrclass.dat. Not sure if this helps. I will get the full path of file.

There is also another problem that I found after the unknown program came up for the first time. I unistalled Microsoft Security Essentials that I used to have as my AV and I downloaded Kaspersky to scan. Kaspersky found nothing. When I downloaded MSE again after uninstall of kaspersky I got an error of 0x80070643. I have found stray folders of Microsoft security essentials on my harddrive that were not unistalled?

Thanks for your help

I think that because the program uses symbols that it might be in a different language that my computer doesn't recognise. It might be something to do with a computer games site I visited that no longer runs and the domain has stopped running and is now basically ads in chinese? The website seems to be safe according to AVG site scanners and site advisors? Not sure if I should post the website here?

thanks

I have just found another forum that discusses the similar problem that I have. Should I follow this advice:

Hi,

You have disabled some programs from running via msconfig. Please re-enable those all, reboot and run DDS. Post back fresh logs it puts out.

I am also trying the windows onecare scan, but after installing malwarebytes I get an error message 0x08402405. I have since uninstalled malwarebytes, but still no change.
That error message is usually thrown if another antivirus protection is running. Onecare should be replaced with Microsoft Security Essentials nowadays. However, then you have to uninstall AVG since there should be no more than one antivirus program running in the same environment.

I have had AVG downloaded before Malwarebytes Antimalware. It is definately Malwarebytes, which I have since uninstalled that has stopped Onecare from running.
Since MBAM isn't installed anymore that 0x08402405 error can't likely be caused by it.
