I get a problem on one of my computers where Internet Explorer 7 crashes often due to sdhelper.dll

It seems to only happen when opening tabs etc, and it doesn't just happen randomly when viewing a web page.

I have tried re-installing spybot (after cleaning up after the uninstall with Revo uninstaller) but the problem remains.

I don't have this problem on other computers, both of which run Windows XP and IE7 (although have SP3 rather than SP2)

The error log is as follows:

Hello,

Have you already tried IE8 or IE9?
There are already upgrades for your browser available. ;)

Best regards

No, and I don't want to either.

There is no problem with IE7 and Spybot on my other PCs so I doubt I need to upgrade to fix it.

Also, IE9 is not available for XP anyway...

Agent24:

perhaps you should upgrade to WinXP SP3 on that computer that has IE7 + WinXP SP2 because Microsoft stopped offering new XP security updates for SP2 on July 2010. Install SP3 on that XP computer and install the latest IE7 security update (which updates IE7 to build 17096) to see of the problem goes away.

SP3 for XP is a must-have if you want to receive new XP-specific security updates.

Also you should consider upgrading to IE8 and making judicious use of its InPrivate Filtering: http://quero.at/adblock_ie_xml.php
