View Full Version : Learning about Spybot SD
hello. I just downloaded spybot s/d last night. It found 2 trojans/banker. I am unsure as to what the 179164 processes blacklisted is all about. I have never known "Blacklist" to mean anything good. Is that a list of issues {bad files} i need to be worried about or is the that how many files that are not being scaned for harmfull programs [viruses, spyware ext. ] It also says 283740 known ratings available. Please explain.

Did you allow Spybot-S&D to "fix" these items?
What is your operating system? :)
Best regards,

Hello,
That is the resident TeaTimer, the real-time protection of Spybot-S&D.
It has items blacklisted in order to block the baddies from getting in.
Please read this (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/33.html) information about TeaTimer and this (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/faq/34.html).
If you surf the web and without any user interaction the TeaTimer pops up and warns about a registry change it is better to "deny", but if you install something by yourself it is OK to "allow" the change.
The tutorial (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/tutorial/index.html) (point 8) on our homepage should also help explaining.
Best regards
Sandra
