View Full Version : Can't remove Win32.FraudLoad.edt
I've done Spybot - S&D scan and it couldn't remove it. It asked for reboot, but still it had a problem to remove this malware.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the forum is very busy. If you still need help, please do the following:
Step # 1 Download and run DDS
Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr) or here (http://www.infospyware.net/sUBs/dds) or here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.com)
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
Step # 2: Download and Run Gmer
Please download gmer.zip (http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip) from Gmer and save it to your desktop.
***Please close any open programs ***
Double-click gmer.exe. The program will begin to run.
**Caution**
These types of scans can produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOTKIT" entries unless advised by a trained Security Analyst
If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.
If you do not receive notice about possible rootkit activity remain on the Rootkit/Malware tab & make sure that the 'Sections' button is ticked and the 'Show All' button is unticked. Click the Scan button and let the program do its work. GMER will produce a log.
Once the scan is complete, you may receive another notice about rootkit activity.
Click OK.
GMER will produce a log. Click on the Save button, and save the log as gmer.txt somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop.
DO NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !
Please post the results from the GMER scan in your reply.
In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:
1. The two DDS Logs (DDS and Attach.txt)
2. The GMER Log

Yes, I have MSE installed recently (maybe 4-6 months ago). Before MSE I used Kaspersky for 1 year and before Kaspersky I used BitDefender for one month if I'm right. MSE acts as an antivirus software, so I guess there is no problem, right? I know about my free space issues on C (I also have another partion D). In future I'll merge them to one while backuping my data to external hard drive. I removed software what you asked for and rebooted my PC.
But I have issues with combofix. When I run it for scan, it shows me the following error: T was unexpected at this time.
Also I found out that other users' documents in my computer were located in C. I transferred them to D and now C has 6.24 GB free which is pretty okay I guess.
MSE acts as an antivirus software, so I guess there is no problem, right?

As for ComboFix, try booting your computer into Safe Mode (You can go in Safe Mode by restarting your computer, then continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.) and running ComboFix from there.

They are marketed as ways to make your machine run faster and more efficiently ...... Some will actually achieve this .... IF you know how to use them correctly.
Removing "Orphaned/Old/Obsolete" registry entries is fine ..... as long as they actually are "Orphaned/Old/Obsolete", it won't speed up your machine though
Stopping services and setting policies can speed up your machine ..... as long as you stop and set the right ones, and even then it's debatable if you will notice the improvement.
Remove the wrong registry entry, or stop the wrong service, and not only can you slow your machine .... you could kill it !
To use a Registry Cleaner or "Tweak" tool to its full advantage, you really need to know what it is they are doing and what else the changes may affect.
In short, if you know how to use them safely ----- you don't actually need them.

Step # 1 Update Java
Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.
Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u26 (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp).
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop. Do NOT use the Sun Download Manager.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Remove the following old versions of Java:
Java(TM) 6 Update 24
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

It's a bit funny 'cause at the moment when I read your reply, I was downloading Adobe Reader already :) How's my computer doing? Doing fine, 'cause I take regular care of it (virus/spyware scans, defrags, keeping it clean, etc...). There used to be a Windows Update problem, but I got it solved after reinstalling .net packs. But I've had couple of problems for unknown time (maybe for 4-6 months).
1. Windows startup problem:
a) System boots just fine.
b) I log in as an administrator (inserting password and pressing enter).
c) Welcome screen is seen (with no logon sound heard).
d) Content of explorer.exe is seen (desktop and taskbar).
--With exception that the taskbar is only partially seen (most of it is covered with dark blue color) for first two seconds (probably system is loading it).
e) Everything is frozen (since the desktop and taskbar appeared) for 10-20 seconds. No programs seem to load, taskbar is also frozen (unable to click the start button and the notification area is empty). I'm able to move my cursor though.
f) After 10-20 seconds, Windows logon sound is heard, icons appear to notification area, but when I move my cursor to taskbar, it turns to hourglass. After five seconds I'm able to use taskbar normally.
This problem also occurs with imited user, but delay is very small (for 0.5 seconds instead of 10-25 seconds). I've tried to disconnect from network before startup, but it didn't help. Also, I've tried to open task manager to see if any process even load while freezing takes place, but it didn't open. Normal startup is selected in msconfig, and I've also refreshed boot.ini (but I think it has nothing to do with startup). Maybe some startup process is causing that, but there are damn too many out there and it would take a while to test every one of them (also I have no I idea if there's a point to). It's not very annoying and I can live with it. --Almost forgot to add that sometimes when logged in as an administrator, the delay is also only 0.5 seconds long as with limited user.
2. DVD reading issue
Sometimes the ODD (DVD writer) is unable to read DVD-s, but most of times it's able to. When it's able to, still there is one DVD that can't be read (AoE Collector's Edition). That DVD can only be read if inserted BEFORE startup or boot. Unfortunately I have no other ODD (DVD one) to replace it with to test if it's system's problem or ODD's. This occurs with all users. I've also uninstalled a driver from device manager to let Windows automatically reinstall it, but it didn't help.
Somehow I think these problems are connected to each other because both occur randomly (if logged in with administrator, delay might be different every time).

If the delay is not a hinderance and you say that you can live with it, we could also just leave it alone as well.
For the 2nd problem, since it just happens with the Age Of Empires DVD you can try asking at an AoE forum. They'd be better equipped/able to answer your question than I would. :)

I'd like for you to do the following:
Step # 1 Clear Java's Cache
Click Start > Control Panel
Double-click the Java icon in the control panel. (coffeecup icon)
Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
-The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
Click Delete Files.
-The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
-There are two options on this window to clear the cache.
Applications and Applets
Trace and Log Files
Make sure both are checked
Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
-Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.
Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
Close the Java Control Panel
Finally, I'd like for you to do a scan with Spybot S&D. If you don't have the latest version of Spybot (the latest version is 1.6.2), then uninstall Spybot S&D from your computer and download the latest version from the following website:

Once you do have the latest version of Spybot, update it so that you have the latest database and do a scan with it. Let me know if Spybot finds/fixes anything and if it does, post the Spybot log in your next post/reply.
Nice! I did the Spybot scan and it only found one Right Media cookie spyware, no Win32.FraudLoad.edt. Looks like the spyware is gone and we are done with it :D: (Or are we?). Anyway if we are, I have nothing left to do than thanking you for taking your time and helping removing this spyware. Also, is it recommended to do regular scans with Malwarebytes'? It seemed to find some spyware that spybot didn't.

I'd do a scan with MalwareBytes' every 2 weeks or so, just be sure that it is updated before you do the scan.

To remove ComboFix, do the following:
Go to Start > Run - type in ComboFix /Uninstall & click OK
Empty your Recycle Bin.

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Select Create a restore point, and Ok it.
Next, go to Start > Run and type in cleanmgr
Make sure the C:\ drive is selected and click OK. If your computer's Hard Drive is not located on C:, change it to the correct drive letter then click OK.

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created..
Clearing your restore points is not something you should do on a regular basis. Normally, this process only needs to be done after clearing out an infestation of malware.
Make your Internet Explorer more secure This can be done by following these simple instructions: From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
Click once on the Security tab
Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
Click once on the Custom Level button.
Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt

Set correct settings for files that should be hidden in Windows XP
Click Start > My Computer > Tools menu (at top of page) > Folder Options > View tab.
