I got an empty entry in the startup, spybot s&d says it's AGOBOT-KU with a file path.exe. I googled it, and found a thread where someone had it, and so I followed the directions and here are the logs requested. I also installed malwarebytes anti-malware like suggested and ran it, but it found nothing, neither did Kaspersky's trial version. I have taken no action as suggested thus far, here are the logs:

Please read these instructions carefully before executing and perform the steps, in the order given.
lf you have any questions about or problems with, executing these instructions, <STOP> do not proceed, post back with the question or problem before going any further.

Before we proceed please make sure any open programs are closed.

Step 1:
Business Use Computer?

Entries in the log you have provided lead me to believe that this computer may be being used for business purposes.
Please could you confirm whether or not this is the case? If not, please proceed with Step 2 and clarify for what purposes this computer is used in your next post.

Step 2:
Rootkit UnHooker (RkU)

Please download Rootkit UnHooker (http://www.kernelmode.info/ARKs/RKUnhookerLE.EXE). Save it to your Desktop.
Please Note: The resulting log file can be very long. You may need to post it separately.

Double-click on RKUnhookerLE.exe to run the program.
Vista - W7 users: Right-click RKUnhookerLE.exe and select "Run As Administrator" to launch the program. If you receive a UAC prompt, please allow it.
Click the Report tab, then click Scan.
Check the Drivers, Stealth Code, Files and Code Hooks options.
Uncheck the rest of the options. Then click on the OK button. (See the image below for reference.)

The scanning will toggle through the Checked items "tabs". This can take a while, so please be patient.
When the scanner is finished, select File > Save Report.
Save the file Report.txt to your Desktop.

Step 3:
MGA Diagnostics

Please download this tool (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012) from Microsoft and Save it to your Desktop.
Double-click on the MGADiag.exe icon to launch the program.
Vista - W7 users: Right-click on MGADiag.exe and select "Run As Administrator" to launch the program. If you receive a UAC prompt, please allow it.
If you receive an Open File Security Warning click on the Run button.
Click on the Continue button to proceed.
The program will now run. It will take a short while to complete its diagnosis, please be patient.
When it has finished click on the Copy button.
Open Notepad by clicking Start > Run, type in Notepad then click OK.
Paste the copied contents into the new Notepad window and Save the file as mgadiag.txt to your Desktop.
Click on the OK button to exit the MGA Diagnostics program.
Then Copy and Paste the entire contents of mgadiag.txt into your next reply.
Step 4:
CKScanner

Please download CKScanner (http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/CKScanner.exe) and Save it to your Desktop.
Make sure that CKScanner.exe is on your Desktop before running the application!
Double-click on the CKScanner.exe icon to launch the program and then click on the Search For Files button.
When the scan has finished (- the hourglass cursor will disappear when the scan has completed) click on the Save List To File button.
A text file will be created on your desktop named ckfiles.txt.
Click on the Exit button to close the program.
Double-click on the ckfiles.txt file to open it.
Then Copy and Paste the entire contents of the file into your next reply.

I got the entire Adobe CS5.5 suites from my Aunt who used her educational discount for me for a present, since she never needed any of the educational software or used it or gave it to anyone else. If this somehow makes my software pirated then I'm confused. I don't hack or pirate or even go to those types of sites since I know they are virus-infested. I don't even usually get virus's, believe it or not, since I did computer security for an old job and have some rudimentary precautionary practices.

Is it possible that this file is some sort of virus or plant or something? Also, the dreamweaver is only one part of the whole CS5.5 suite I have, so why would it say only dreamweaver is hacked?

I don't know much about all this but if this doesn't clear that up, then I'll just have to solve this problem on my own, because I have legitimate software, through a family educational discount, we live together off and on, and we were living together in the same household, and I downloaded and installed it with her full permission.

Yeah I just looked at the files you mentioned on the log, I see the keygen and crack-something-or-other on two of the adobe products. How did those get there, can they have been put there? I don't get it. I have an Adobe ID, I'm validated and all, I can access their forums and all that, so if there's any way to prove this is not accurate let me know.

If not, I'll tackle the problem on my own with no hard feelings, and I understand your legal position, definitely! But if this is the case, then can you tell me how I might research how this could happen to my laptop without me knowing it?

Batch - Files/Folders Removal

Please follow the instructions below to remove the remaining malware items.
Please Note: This fix will remove the infected backup of 19th June 2011.

Click on Start and then click on the Start Search box in the Start Menu.
Copy and Paste the following value into the open text entry box:

notepad
Then click on the magnifying glass symbol or press Enter.
This will open an empty Notepad file.
Copy and Paste the contents of the box below into the Notepad window:

Step 2:
Uninstall Programs

Select Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Under the Programs heading, click on Uninstall a program.
Scroll down the list of installed programs and locate the following program:

CA Pest Patrol Realtime Protection
Pando Media Booster
Right-click on Uninstall to uninstall it.
Repeat steps 3 - 4 for each program in the list.
When finished Close the Control Panel window.
Restart the computer to complete removal of the program.

Step 3:
TDSSKiller - Scan

Please download TDSSKiller.exe (http://support.kaspersky.com/downloads/utils/tdsskiller.exe) by Kaspersky and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!
Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to launch it.
Vista - W7 users: Right-click on TDSSKiller.exe and select "Run As Administrator..." to launch the program. If you receive a UAC prompt, please allow it.
If TDSSKiller does not run rename the program file. Right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. ektfhtw.com).
If you don't see file extensions, please see: How to change the file extension (http://www.mediacollege.com/microsoft/windows/extension-change.html).
Click the Start Scan button. Do not use the computer during the scan!
When the scan has finished, if it finds anything please click on the drop down arrow next to Cure and select Skip
Now click on Report to open the log file created by TDSSKiller.
The log file named TDSSKiller_version_dd.mm.yyyy_hh.mm.ss_log.txt is created and saved to the root directory. (Usually C: drive).
Copy and Paste the entire contents of the TDSSKiller_version_dd.mm.yyyy_hh.mm.ss_log.txt file into your next reply.

I'm a gamer, so I've heard of that stuff, but I've never wanted to risk viruses and bad karma, but I am a computer wiz in training :red: so I'm interested in how and why that could happen if you don't mind filling me in.

Well, the RemFix step didn't work, it said Access denied, despite running as admin, twice, and it created a blank text file.

Also, since I noticed the script didn't seem to work, I searched for the files, and could not find the two weird files at all. So perhaps it worked, perhaps they got deleted, and then it just said Access Denied anyway, even though it worked.... just hypothesizing here. But the text file was blank.

Okay just realized that was it, so that's done as best as able... and I would also like to know why those files were there I keep asking....

Also, I am willing to just reformat and reinstall windows. I would almost prefer that, but I googled a bit, and some worms can apparently still come back through port or even survive in the hard drive format?? If this agobot worm could be for sure just wiped out in a format without worrying about ports and stuff (I don't fully understand how worms can work), then let me know and I'll just do that.

Or we can continue and see if it's gone, but a format would make me feel better I think... what do you think?

Firstly, keygen/crack files end up on computer systems deliberately one way or another, either by a user actively trying to obtain illegal key to install and use a product they don't want or can't afford to purchase, or as part of the payload of downloaded files from disreputable sites - game and torrent sites are particular hosts for such downloads - where it is the deliberate intention of the malware writer to add such files to an unwitting user's system for his/her own purposes.

It is important to recognise that you should steer clear of disreputable or unknown sites for any downloads. Also, do not install any P2P software as such software is universally seen to be the source of much of the malware infection we witness on the help forums. Safer Network's advice on P2P software can read here (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=282). In addition, it is advisable never to use Registry Cleaner software as these products are never the "one-hit wonders" they purport to be, and in reality can potentially do more harm than good.

In terms of your system, if you are happy to reformat and reinstall your computer system this would be the best thing to do to ensure any infection has truly been removed.

When you reformat the hard disk please ensure you select the low-level format (writing zeros - one pass is suficient unless you are really paranoid) option, although this does take considerably longer depending on the size of the hard disk, it is the safest way to make sure you wipe all traces of data from the drive.

Please complete the steps below to clean up the tools we have used and read some best practice advice in terms of keeping your system clear of infection in the future. ;)

Step 1:
Housekeeping

It's time for some housekeeping. Please follow the instructions below to remove the tools we have used to clean up your computer.

Remove Tools Used

You can now safely delete the tools used in cleaning up the infection. Please remove the following tools from your system along with any related .zip files.

CKScanner.exe
MGADiag.exe
TDSSKiller.exe
Also, whichever of the following DDS programs you downloaded:

dds.com
dds.pif
dds.scr
Please Note: These tools are updated on a regular basis and so, if required in future, should be downloaded afresh under supervision.

Step 2:
Anti-Virus Software Advice

I notice from your feedback you are running a trial version of Kaspersky Internet Security to provide Anti-Virus and Security Protection. This is a good paid-for Anti-Virus and Security product. Please make sure you register the product at the end of the trial period, if you are happy to continue using it.

If you decide you would like to try an alternative product you could try one of the following:

To protect your computer from infection download a (free for personal use) Anti-virus program from one the following reliable vendors:

avast! Free Antivirus (http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download) - Excellent detection, the freeware version includes email scanning.
Microsoft Security Essentials ** (http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/) - New, from Microsoft, with email scanning, easy to install, easy to use.
** Your PC must run a genuine version of the Windows OS to install Microsoft Security Essentials.
Another good (pay for) Anti-virus program is ESET NOD32 Antivirus (http://www.eset.com/)- 30 day free trial.

Installing a new Anti-virus product.
Do NOT uninstall any existing Anti-virus product yet!
Download the new Anti-virus product to your computer desktop.
Save any work. Close all applications, especially your Internet connection.
Uninstall any existing Anti-virus product using the Anti-virus uninstall option, if available.
Reboot your computer, if not done during the uninstall.
Install the new Anti-virus product following the installation instructions.
Check for updates to the new Anti-virus product, if not already done during the installation setup.
Please Note: It is strongly recommended that you run only one Anti-virus program at a time. Having more than one Anti-virus program active in memory uses additional resources and results in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

MalwareBytes' AntiMalware
It is worth keeping MalwareBytes' AntiMalware on your system. Updating the program and running a scan once every couple of weeks will help you to keep malware free.
Note: MalwareBytes' AntiMalware is also a far more effective tool than Lavasoft's Ad-Aware. Consequently, I would advise against reinstalling Ad-Aware.

Additional (free) programs, that can help improve security.
Many feel that having a "layered" protection scheme is beneficial, you'll have to decide what works best for your situation.
Here are a few you may like to look into, if you wish. :)

SiteAdvisor
SiteAdvisor is a toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox which alerts you if you're about to enter a potentially dangerous website.

MVPS Hosts

The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
